Can you hold action / delay your turn?
Title. Just curious and haven’t got the game installed currently.

The way they handled this is if you are next to your party members in initiative queue, you can freely switch between members to "delay" your active turn. You just can't do it if a monster or enemy NPC is about to attack after you in the queue with no other party members next to you in queue.

For example, PC1 and 2 are ahead of monster 1 -- switch from PC1 to 2, attack, then switch back to 1, attack. If PC1 and monster 1 are together in the queue with no other PC members stacked, you must use your turn.

Edit: If you are thinking about how Solasta handled holding actions like overwatch style opportunity attacks, then you should know that there are quite a few opportunity attacks unlocked for classes as they level. Many of them are still triggered by proximity and situation.

Was thinking the Solasta way but also completely delaying a turn. Like if my warrior is playing 1st and my cleric 9th can the warrior delay so he gets a buff?

Thanks for the explanation. Covers my question :)

A nice trick for your warrior and cleric scenario is to stick your warrior next to your cleric, and wait. Your warrior can also range attack and auto switch weapons for opportunity attacks if enemies come within striking distance of your cleric. Then you can buff on your cleric's turn.

I have never personally needed to use the overwatch mechanics Solasta had while playing this game. The battle flow is really good in BG3.

This is a good tip to know. Though I hope someday they can add a delay or ready action mechanic. Though I know trying to create a system to manage all the different types of readied actions would be very difficult. A delay I think would be easier to implement. Something like just click and drag the character in the initiative order. Had a few time I had to sac a PC round because another PC was in the way or there was a specific order of actions needed to make it work. Think like having a wizard dimension door a PC closer to target so they can attack that round.
