I imagine if we had level 12 we'd be waiting until August 2026 to get the game.
High level spells in dnd are stupid powerful and stupidly flexible.
You have clearly never played D&D so let me enlighten you: Levels in D&D take a very long time after a while and the powerlevel even above level 10 reaches unreal levels. You really can't compare a level 5 character in this game with a level 5 character in let's say Dragon Age. Each level is an actual huge increase - lvl 20 characters are basically gods.
Well I wouldn't say "fear" .. it's more like the jump in power is so crazy high that it'll turn every hand-crafted and carefully balanced encounter into a boring joke.
From what I know about the system, 1-2 levels above what is recommend would basically turn an encounter in "Tactitian Mode" into an encounter in "Story mode".
Fighting a certain Gith patrol on lvl 4 is tough as nails - fighting it on lvl 5 turns it into a rather easy encounter.
