Multi GPU SLI

I say SLI, but what I mean to say is NVLINK. NVLINK is produced and used very widely in the market today.... and yes, it's expensive. But it's GREAT :)

Nowadays, GPUs have become so powerful, that it makes more sense to buy one powerful GPU than to hassle with all of the issues SLI brings to the table. Stuttering, bad Game support, extra heat, extra power consumption, more cables in the case, and worse value for the money. You don’t get 200% performance from two GPUs linked through SLI, it’s more like 150%.

In addition: Because so few Gamers invest in an SLI setup, there is almost no enticement for Game Developers to support it.

I 100% disagree. If multi GPU didn't have clear benefits, it would exist... and it wouldn't be the basis Nvidia uses for all the enterprise hardware it sells. It works, and it's great. You could argue Nvidia took it away from the gaming community because too many professionals were using the technology in the professional world with low end graphics cards, and that was causing the company to make less stupendous profits due to those customers not paying double (or more) for Quadro. But today's customer is paying the same as they had today for a single high end GPU (probably more) as they were for an SLI system a few years ago. On top, there are many other reasons why it make no sense for multi GPU not to be a thing in the consumer space. I won't get into that because it would take too long. I'm tired of hearing this line of reasoning, as are all other NVLINK users. Especially when it's not even the question that I asked.

It isn't a very demanding game. I don't think it matters if SLI works or not. That said, did it work in DOS2? Even if not offically supported - if it worked in DOS2 you can likely fudge it (even if it isn't needed.)

My only "issue" (it is minor) is i wish saving was faster. It is odd there is such a pause when hitting f5.

If 8TB NVME Drives were more affordable, I might have space for it, lol. I'm surprised to hear it's light on the hardware, being modern and all.

Hey, did you buy the game? Cause I too had the same question.
My almost 10 year old laptop has dual GTX 780m, and was wondering if it would be able to run this game. It was a powerhouse when SLI was still supported, but I don’t know about it now lol. I only use it for casual games (LoL, OSRS, PS1 emulation).

Ok my nvlink with 2 2080 ti cards works great while playing BG3. It did crash once using direct x 11. I have not tested with and without nvlink,however, I believe nvlink is recognized and works as games like civ 6 where you can easily see the support for nvlink works and indicates both cards are working. Lastly, I have had no slow down problems and loading and saving are not slow. I do have a m.2 Samsung drive, a second generation threadripper (the one in the large box 32 cores I belive) and a good amount of memory that may be providing me with a better experience. I have been building pcs for 30 years now and this one is very stable and plays bg3 perfect. Everything is maxed out in 4k Except for shadows ( one level below the highest because I freaked out after one crash during character creation and lowering shadows has helped in the past and i belive did the trick here.). Hope this helps someone and if anyone has advice for me please post I am always looking to learn.

OK, then it's probably worth buying because I can use "all the power" :) ... Next step, find SSD space for it! :/ ...Also... this means as they (will probably) add more advanced features to the game in the future (RTX + other advanced tech) there's a good chance those of us with mGPU will be able to enable those with no material performance impacts.

Makes me laugh when people say sli is dead, its almost a scripted response now.

My gtx690 quad sli configuration did run efficiently on this game. But I always face errors and collapses then the game shut down.

Yep. this game runs fantastic in SLI mode. These guys really buttoned up this game well. Makes you wish other AAA games scaled like this.
