Multiclassing is terrible..why are people so obsessed..
The cap is level 12... there is barely any multi classes that will be better than a normal level 12 class and even those that work are niche as hell. (there are some but very few)

Most multi classing works only works with level 15+ caps.

So whats the point and why does anyone care?
Is it just randoms that hear buzzword and get excited or what?

One problem tho, there is no hexblade.

Is Paladin Warlock is better than pure Paladin?

I know it was confirmed on fextralife early play that warlock has charisma weapon stuff

Most people when multiclassing ranger don't take more than 3 levels in ranger. Gloomstalker rogue multiclass is stronger than your average rogue/ranger when you have an even split 3/3 for the multiclass. Sure, the rogue would be able to hit harder with sneak attack, but the gloomstalker rogue, with the right conditions, has a more consistent sneak attack, plus they are also able to cast hunter's mark to add more to the damage.

Multiclassing has the potential to make some very busted characters. But only if you know what you are doing.

Multiclassing traditionally has a few purposes:
  • Small 1-3 level dip to grab something early level
  • Already committed to something early and want Extra Attack at a higher level
  • All about RP and these discussions are not relevant at all
There are classes that don’t multiclass very well since their class has an exclusive resource like ki points. Still BG3 is not 5e.

For example, Beast Master Ranger would normally not work well with other classes that use bonus actions a lot like Monk. However Beast Master animal companions are very much like a summoner that have additional allies that don’t require actions or bonus actions to control. Beast Master shouldn’t be overlooked.

Isn't there a mod that allows full level 20?
Joren Jul 30, 2023 @ 12:54pm
There is, but some of the stuff is really sketchy in its implementation.

Its about having fun, not building the ultimate character, its a ROLE-Playing Game, not a MMO hackfest.

It depends? Solo play is not all too forgiving. If you choose to have 3 companions, they can certainly pick up any slack. But some rainbow class build is not going to make it past certain fights solo.

There are some classes which are really good as multi class. You could level a Paladin to 8 for example and then respec it to Paladin 5 / Warlock 3 with pact of the blade and high charisma instead of strength.

Unfortunately this ones kind of on the community. wotc tends to not make content for level 16-20 due to players being afraid to do campaign that high level. Thays not to say theirs not plenty their high cr demons and devils as well as most dragons in fizzbins are built for level 20s. Starspawns can easly be used as well. Also We would get more sutff eith level 16 to 20 content. if people just ripped the bandaid off and run high level campaigns. Doesn't excuse them for not at least going to level 14 where we all get our last sub class feature.

Look to the mod community for additional subclasses and giving you the ability to level up to level 20. They did it in early access. They will do it again once we get the actual base code with the full release. I would guess by the end of the month it’ll probably be live.

Option, options, options!

Rogue multiclasses are good. High initial damage is overkill and being lacklustre the rest of the rounds means multiclassing a rogue is more practical.

you just had to necro this nonsensical thread the op had and has no clue what his talking about gazzilion broken op builds on youtube showcases that nicely, if for some reason people can't make their own. That's the main fun part about multiclassing making your own character
