I think though that Great Old One warlocks get a perk later on that cancels that out. Not sure though
Not quite and only for that specific ability - it's a charm that doesn't wear off, it has to be removed (or you cast it on someone else).
Yep, just seeing a lot of people accidentally screwing themselves over with it
"Future Enemies"
It says they will remember and "accuse you". I've read from the D&D rules that it can make characters "unfriendly" but doesn't necessarily mean hostile.
(This next part is debatable) Also, maybe depending on the situation it was used should make it more forgiving. If you're invading a hostile area or an area where people already don't trust you and charm someone to get past them, yeah they should definitely attack you once it wears off. If you charm maybe a friendly NPC for something trivial, especially to deescalate a situation or something like that, it shouldn't immediately make someone want to kill you after they're no longer charmed.
Also this might be a bug, but I used "Friends" on Zevlor when I just got to the camp to prevent him from attacking each other. Later I did Kagha's quest with the Shadow Druids and went to go report to Zevlor that he and the Tieflings and stay in the camp and he was immediately hostile towards me. Although after reloading a save, I left my character outside and went into his quarters with the rest of the party and he didn't become hostile, although I couldn't talk to him for a bit cause he kept saying "Not now" and "How did this happen? I need to find evidence." Once my other companions were able to talk to him finally, I went in with my character and it wasn't Hostile anymore
lot of cantrips are worthless. blade ward, true strike, friends.
might accuse
If you use Friends to get the NPC(s) to leave, they won't become hostile since they are gone. A few early encounters Friends worked great. Against gobos that stick around town, it did not help avoid combat. Against a non-hostile guard you can just keep using Friends to avoid combat.
