What class & subclass would you suggest for me?
Hi! I'm a newbie to BG3, so I hope you'll help me. My beloved character is a human with a noble background who's something like a rogue but with magic.

I love:
- two daggers (best touched some magic)
- backstabbing
- stepping from the shadows/being invisible
- using mesmerizing & cursing spells
- being persuasive in conversations

I suspect my main class should be rogue, but what subclass would you suggest? Or maybe some other interesting combination? Thanks in advance!

Hi, try to cross the Rogue with the Warlock. I think it could be a good combination :)

You sound 100% like an ordinary Paladin! :)

That is almost literally Astarion, except the being human part, if you pick Arcane Trickster at level 3. You might wanna consider playing him.

If you want custom: Yes, rogue is the obvious choice. The Arcane Trickster subclass provides some magic (intelligence is your ability for casting, so don't dump it). For being persuasive you might consider warlock, since they use high charisma and managing their spells is easier for a beginner. With pact of the blade you can turn them into a melee specialist. There's also the ranger with their subclass gloomstalker, that excel in being unseen and striking from the shadows. And finally, bards with college of swords. Made to charm and persuade and also go melee.

A bard would fit so well. Can covers everything you ask for.

The only class that gets literral backstab would be rogue.
If you drop the literral backstab and can get by by roleplaying a "backstab" you can look into a warlock or a bard.
Alternativelly if backstab is a deal breaker you can cheat it in with cheat engine.

Rogue.
Magic subclass.

Rouge with Arcane Trickster Subclass, or perhaps Shadow Monk (only coming out in the full release so I don't know how it plays.

Could also multiclass either of those, like Thief Rogue (extra bonus action is great for two weapons, unless they change it), and pick up a little bit of Warlock, enough to get Darkness and Devil's Sight, and you'll have a few more spells to boot. Probably don't think about magic weapons in the build too much, you'll be finding them in the world.

A lot of multiclass builds do take some time to really come online, so just bear that in mind.

Gloom Stalker may be right up your ally.

ALL THE SUBCLASSES!!

...or if you don't want to spend a year playing... I'd type that Malaficus Shaikan has a good suggestion.

Simple Bard Barbarian

A lute is superior to two daggers
you can backstab them with a lute to the head
you are so fancy, people will be blinded by your aperance
your songs are truley mesmerizing
nothing more persuasive then a bard you know

Iron Mind also gives you an advantage for later fights, so you don't have to invest in too much int to avoid getting your brain eaten.
