Thoughts on moon druid.
I'm without a doubt going moon druid for my first play-through. I know owlbear has been confirmed and displacer beast has been shown as well, but the forms do feel like they get weaker as the game goes on. I believe some of the rangers pets are straight up stronger than the druid's wildshape which doesn't seem right to me. Does anyone think this will be resolved in the full release or is druid going to have spikes of being very strong then getting weaker before getting a new form?

Also I hope owlbear or some other strong forms are moon exclusive since land gets exclusive spells and spore gets exclusive abilites. Doesn't seem right if the strongest wildshapes are shared with the other subclasses.

Moon druid does not get proper power scale progressions like most other classes, instead they get power spikes. On level 3 and 4 Moon circle is incredibly powerfull, then falls off for level 5 and then power spikes again.
We will need to see all forms available to moon druid on release to fully judge him.

In 5th ed, a druid is a lot more than just a wild shape. One of the most powerful classes, stronger than most at their peak when the druid is at a low. Any time an enemy does manage to chew through all your wild shape HP, all they've really done is piss off a full spell caster with a battery of powerful offensive spells. You will be fine.

owlbear is a monstrosity, not a beast. thus it should not be available to druids.
swen did mention dinos tho.

Owlbear is confirmed as a wildshape

RAW, they indeed wouldn't work, but larian has the right to homebrew as they please :>

Larian has reduced the early level power of the wildshapes, I wonder if they have done some work on balancing them for later game too.

A lot of the wild shape utility is lost in a video game, so I'd guess they have balanced this by boosting combat power at later levels.

No evidence though pure guess work.

Moondruid is fine. The Wildshape itself will spike in power as people said and then fall off. Until next spike. This said they are never useless. There are many sitations both inside and outside combat that certain forms will be useful. And don't forget you are also a spellcaster. You don't need to be in wildshape 100% of the time.

Seems to be what everyone is saying. Power spikes instead of a steady curve seems fun. Plus their overall kit is just extremely flexible so it seems like druid will always have something useful to do even during their weaker levels.

Druid turning into an owlbear is literally in one of the trailers. Not to mention the CONFIRMATION that was given after it.

If it is like the table top it is the most self reliant class in the game.
A class that needs very little gear if any.
It is a tier 1 class.
Moon druid get better wildshapes and use wildshape as a bonus action rather then an action.
They are great at first and remain good.
From my understand it goes like this:
Druids are master of the early game then balance out.
Wizards are master of the late game but have early game hell.
Clerics are gods at every level.
