Tips on making a dwarf slayer?
I'm a big fan of warhammer fantasy especially their concept of dwarven slayers, they are essentially dwarfs who dishonored themselves in some way and and seek atonement through their own deaths at that hands of worthy foes, usually being monsters like trolls, giants, hydras, dragons etc. I was told about the unarmored defense skill they added to the game that barbarians get and decided I'd give it a try but besides that fact I know nothing about baldur's gate so any tips for how to go about creating this character would be appreciated.

Berserker is your guy. Get yourself a orange haired mohawk with a proper stunty beard to match, jewelry and tats. EZ.

Oh, forgot. Shield dwarf. You get +2 str instead of +1 wisdom from the Gold dwarf. Gold dwarf gets +1 hps per level which really isn't what a Slayer wants, with their death oath and all. Shield dwarf allows you to use medium armor without penalties but....... that's about the only non slayer aspect of this build.

2'd.. ye berserkewr seems to be the right one

just fort these 2
Frenzy
Starting when you choose this path at 3rd level, you can go into a frenzy when you rage. If you do so, for the duration of your rage you can make a single melee weapon attack as a bonus action on each of your turns after this one. When your rage ends, you suffer one level of exhaustion.

Mindless Rage
Beginning at 6th level, you can't be charmed or frightened while raging. If you are charmed or frightened when you enter your rage, the effect is suspended for the duration of the rage.

more attacks and immune to (leadership) breaking.
unfort, no mohawk big enough, Maybe on release :P

I do want my character to survive of course so I can play the game, but yeah the two strength over wisdom is nice.

Like the others said, Barbarian Berserker is likely what you want. However, if you wouldn't mind multiclassing a few levels to stick a bit closer to Slayer, you could put 3 levels into Ranger for the Hunter subclass.

Basically the Hunter gets a passive called "Hunter's Prey" which gives you 3 choices for passives. If you choose the "Giant Killer" option, any Large or Larger enemy that attacks you and misses, you get to attack back as a reaction.

We don't know how good that choice will be in this game, but in a normal setting it tends to be a little too situational. But flavor can be just as important.

ye this makes sense, and you only need level 6 for mindless rage

That's the old EA build. All races get +2/+1 to stats. You want Gold Dwarf if you are going Berserker. You don't need the Shield Dwarf armor proficiency.
