No. You post on a board riddled with “Kids from rich countries” then you don’t get to complain when they answer.
And regarding the price increase - when you wait to buy you are balancing risk/benefit for that decision. Potential benefits being price drops, reasons to not buy (turns out the game is bad), etc.
But you’re also risking a negative - and this time a negative happened for many. I’m sorry that happened, but you don’t get to pat yourself on the back when things workout well, then shout at the world when the dice roll wrong. I’m not happy something negative happened for people but realistically, you ca go kick rocks with the attitude and condescension
It's actually gamer greed.
For "low income regions" the price is already subsidized by everyone paying actual full price.
The game is a luxury item in the first place.
Devs need to get paid for the studio to survive.
If the "low income regions" were the only marketplace, the game would never be made in the first place.
So yeah, if you don't like the price for this luxury item, then simply don't pay it, but whining about wanting it and not wanting to pay the asking price isn't corporate greed, it's individual greed.
💯
Those in poorer countries will never make profit because of lower prices - and the prices are lower because it's compensated by those "rich kids" paying part of your share too. Here are the only few reasons companies bother with establishing operations in those poorer countries:
- Marketing - because people talk and the more they talk, the better
- Publicity - because PR brings a tangible business value
- Hope it will get better there so maybe it will pay full price in the future
but all of those things are based on the premise of "rich kids" making it happen in the first place.
As someone who lived on $12 / month in my childhood I know what it means to be in a poor country. Yeah, I've built myself and left it - but harkoning back - buying a video-game was the least of my concerns. Getting education so that I can better myself and get a paying job was my aim.
A surprisingly stupid message. The game in Turkey costs $30. Two copies would cost $60. There are far fewer residents in wealthy countries, so let them pay more, but in the end their contribution doesn't provide 100% of the money.
