New price increase is absurd
I was planning to buy the game, but the prices are suddenly astronomical, even when compared to Valve's suggested prices! (which are typically rather high). Furthermore, no discounts have been given to the game as of yet.
Please consider reverting/adjusting those prices.

Imagine happily paying $13 for 2 hours of entertainment every time you got the movies, but complaining about the price of a game that has +40 hours of entertainment.

If we decide that 1 hour of entertainment is worth $6, then a AAA game like this should cost $240.

Imagine living in a country where everything is handed off for free, buying a end game machine for what? 3k? less?
Now imagine the same machine would cost 30k - 50k depending on the currenct and whatever..
For lower hourly wage and higher overall cost of living.

Seriously, kids from US or some richer countries in EU should just shut the ♥♥♥♥ up.
Live in a poor country, otherwise shut up.
Imagine the company making the game operating in the more expensive economy.

No. You post on a board riddled with “Kids from rich countries” then you don’t get to complain when they answer.

And regarding the price increase - when you wait to buy you are balancing risk/benefit for that decision. Potential benefits being price drops, reasons to not buy (turns out the game is bad), etc.
But you’re also risking a negative - and this time a negative happened for many. I’m sorry that happened, but you don’t get to pat yourself on the back when things workout well, then shout at the world when the dice roll wrong. I’m not happy something negative happened for people but realistically, you ca go kick rocks with the attitude and condescension
cool just 64% higher than the suggested price. Guess I can be happy to not life in Argentine. Nice corporate greed.

Steam's most recent regional price recommendations are already quite old. They are from October 2022. The original price for BG3 was based on even older price recommendations so of course the increase was going to be large. Larian, like some othe developers, simply realized that Steam's recommendations are just recommendations and worse are based on out of date data. Since October 2022, the Turkish Lira has further decreased in value from 0.054 USD to 0.042 USD (-22.2%). The Argentinian Peso has also decreased even further from 0.0066 USD to 0.0040 USD (-39.39%). All signs point to both currencies continuing to decrease in value. Even with the increase above recommendations, the game is still deeply discounted in both regions. If you are dissatisfied then get your political leaders the hell out of power and make sure the next leaders have even the tiniest inkling of understanding economies and economic policies.

Lol, corporate greed.

It's actually gamer greed.

For "low income regions" the price is already subsidized by everyone paying actual full price.
The game is a luxury item in the first place.
Devs need to get paid for the studio to survive.
If the "low income regions" were the only marketplace, the game would never be made in the first place.

So yeah, if you don't like the price for this luxury item, then simply don't pay it, but whining about wanting it and not wanting to pay the asking price isn't corporate greed, it's individual greed.

💯
That really does sound infuriating. Sorry OP

This is kind of ignorance that made my blood boil in the past. Nowadays I just don't bother. You do realize that "rich kids" from EU / US are paying for those poorer markets? If the devs studio is operating in "rich" counties, it employs people with corresponding expectations and so it has to pay them well. This means that the production cost is amounted in the "rich" terms and therefore the prices follow.

Those in poorer countries will never make profit because of lower prices - and the prices are lower because it's compensated by those "rich kids" paying part of your share too. Here are the only few reasons companies bother with establishing operations in those poorer countries:

- Marketing - because people talk and the more they talk, the better
- Publicity - because PR brings a tangible business value
- Hope it will get better there so maybe it will pay full price in the future

but all of those things are based on the premise of "rich kids" making it happen in the first place.

As someone who lived on $12 / month in my childhood I know what it means to be in a poor country. Yeah, I've built myself and left it - but harkoning back - buying a video-game was the least of my concerns. Getting education so that I can better myself and get a paying job was my aim.

A surprisingly stupid message. The game in Turkey costs $30. Two copies would cost $60. There are far fewer residents in wealthy countries, so let them pay more, but in the end their contribution doesn't provide 100% of the money.
My heart goes out to mi gente en Argentina. Really and truly. However the reality is this will not change. Larian is already charging folks in Argentina significantly less once the exchange rate is accounted for.
You are going to buy it anyway. Marketers won you over long ago.
In fact, many people in Turkey will not buy the game, and instead of receiving 20$ Larian will get 0. I believe that the recommended price of 600 lira is a good price.
