Crafting / Workbench / Ingos / Upgrading

Hey, didnt find a quite new thread about that question... There are fresh articles, that are talking about a workbench in the camp, but just late in the game.
Well, Iam late in the game... :D

Is that a thing? Do I need to keep my Ingots?

No you do not need to keep your ingots or gems. They are just loot.

You unlock a workbench in your camp late game to upgrade your gear using all 4 types of ingots...

Rly? How late? So you have that or did you read that? :D What did you do to get it?

Im not going to give away spoilers but its a quest chain that starts in act 1 and carrys on into the city of baldursgate..its realy hard to miss and has multiple ways to start it throughout act 1 and 2..im just now sure if you need to do everything along the chain for the bench or can you start it in act 2 or 3

I found a bench in Act 3, cant send it to my camp. But thats probably the one...^^ I dont need any more items to finish the game - thats a weird game design decision... :D

Can you give any more info around this? The only people saying this have shown 0 evidence and everyone I know who has completed the game says it is false. If true, why not show a screenshot or tell the quest name?

I finished the game and didnt get the chance to take the workbench into my camp.

It depends. I have seen video where they use ingots… so yeah,,, It is a real thing, but you can also miss that part of the game. This game has so many things that can happen or does not happen!

I have the exact same question but every response to these questions by other players has been super cagey its really frustrating.

I've read the myths about a workbench and upgrading gear, but I have yet to see a single video or screenshot of it outside of EA like 2 years ago which makes me think it's just ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, and the ingots are just more cut content.

That forge has 1 use, to make a sickle, greatsword or longsword out of the Sussur bark you get in the Underdark. That's it. Similarly the Adamantite Forge has 2 uses to make Adamantite gear, that's it.

Boney and Stoney offer a workbench for 5000 gold but in my playthrough they are bugged and refuse to open their store to me and act as though they are in combat. I wonder if thats the workbench that uses the ingots but I am unable to verify it.

I just went to Boney and Stoney and the only thing they sell for 5K is a custom statue, I don't know where you heard this but I don't think it's correct...
