How laggy is Baldurs Gate 3 ?? Seriously annoying
Ok so loving the game, but im upto the Goblin Village and all of a sudden my game is almost un playable. The game is so laggy just scrolling around. The auto detect has my settings at Ultra or High in most things. Ive played around with all the setting and even when I push everything to low or off its still the same.

Im running an older card I know, but it wasnt this bad till recently. I imagine their patching the game constantly at this moment in time (9th August 2023).

My card is an Nvidia 950GTX 1GB card and I have 16 GB of RAM.

Is anyone else having this issue ? Or is it just a case of I need a new card.

You're below minimum spec. What did you expect?
Wolfherz Aug 9, 2023 @ 3:03pm
Your GPU is below the minimum requirements to play the game properly. At minimum the game requires an NVIDIA 970 GTX. Even then I wouldn't try playing the game on high or ultra with that card.

I.... Can't tell if this is a troll thread..... But your card was a (no offense) pretty meh mid tier card from 8 years ago..... That's the issue.

To be clear, you're most likely seeing huge lag and stutters because your card has insufficient VRAM to load textures efficiently. Not surprising considering minimum they're asking for is 4GB.

Ok, hands up I only cast my eye over the HD space for the game and thought my 950GTX wouldnt be that far away from the 970GTX min specs for the game.

Dont Just buy a New GPU...
PC Gamers are stupid af because 90% of them use old Hardware with a New GPU and are crying about bad Performance.

Your PC is Like 8Year Old... you need everthing new

I think its time for some investment in a new card ... thanks for your input.

I dont need a whole new PC lol. Your machines just a group of parts at the end of the day.

Everything else Ive ever played has been fine, until BG3

1gb gpu? in 2023? Seriously? Are you playing on a laptop?
If not you might want to seriously think about upgrading to a newer gen gaming rig.
I have an older Windows 7 machine I turned into a media server with a EVGA GTX 680 ftw GPU and that had 4gb of video memory and that card was from 2012!
There are some proper budget options these days for gaming. If you plan to upgrade just hit up youtube and search for budget gaming pc build 2022 and see how cheap those options are now since many of last gen parts are selling quite cheap these days.

Best you can do is reduce your video graphics, or get a better card it seems. I am experiencing the same thing, but then my pc is badly out of date so not much I can do about it atm.

Pls search for Infos on this Topic.
You will destroy or underpower your GPU If you Just Put it into old Parts

a friend of mine is playing with a 970 GTX on 1080P Low/mid and its running very well. like 40fps+. But a 950GTX is crap, probaly OEM aswell.

OP, yes u need a new card -> take 100€/$ and buy a used 1660S or RX6600 when u on a very low budget.

edit: and dont take the post to serious. u dont need a new card, my friend use a Ryzen 1300X and only the GPU is on 100%.

It doesn't really help the minimum requirements changed partially through EA though. far too late to get a refund at that point when the game required far more than it had previously. If anyone had forgotten.

OS: Windows 10 64-bit
Processor: Intel i5-4690 / AMD FX 4350
Memory: 8 GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia GTX 780 / AMD Radeon R9 280X
DirectX: Version 11
Storage: 70 GB available space

I met the minimum specs back then, not so much now annoyingly.

Thanks for this, Its not really on pulling the carpet out from under people once theyve bought the game.

I know my PC is dated, but it runs everything else fine.

OS Windows 10 64bit
i7 2600k Intel processor
16 GB RAM memory
Nvidia 950GTX
Direct X 11
1TB HD
