You're arguing functionality, but also asking "why it is important as a consumer."
I am only speaking to the consumer portion. I would much rather support a game that feels complete over battle pass/constant DLC nonsense. Additionally, I never expected CRPGs to be very popular, so that means we can expect more in the future (even if it's not from Larian).
I can't explain it much more clearly. Just re-read what I have written if you're still lost.
Didn't all those geniuses make threads saying it would flop and that the wokey monster will eat it.
2023 has been a good year so far for gaming.
Dead Space remake, Hogwarts Legacy, Metroid Prime remake, Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, System Shock remake, Street Fighter 6, Baldur's Gate 3, Armored Core 6, and Starfield.
Possibly Stalker 2 as well
for real! Gamers are eating good this year. I'm happy that everyone can find something they enjoy.
Yes! You know this game flopped because a guy got on the front page and got 30 awards (half of those being jester). You know they speak for everyone.
Dude, for god's sake get out in the sunshine and start living your life. This stuff is not that important. I've played various forms of DnD etc since the late 1970s, pen and paper, computer, whatever. No-one cares what ruleset they use as long as the experience is fun and engaging. Some of the best pen and paper experiences I had when I was a kid was when we made it up as we went along.
Seriously, please, let it go, it doesn't matter.
There's nothing wrong with it. He just needs to get out more.
He just doesn't like it, and his opinion is as valid as anyone else's (although it's really aggressive and seems like it's genuinely upsetting to them lol).
There's nothing wrong with it for me, but to some people it may feel that way.
keep it up :D! Once you hit lvl 5 things get pretty crazy
this game doing well does not really mean anything to other games getting rid of loot boxes or battle passes, because this game doing well doesn't mean other people won't buy the games you would be condemning either, they both can do well and both will contuine to exist.
as for the popular remark: turn based rpgs have always been pretty insanely popular, even early day final fantasy games really took off, but even more recent games like pathfinder or pillars added in turn based features in their sequels.
no matter what theirs gonna be a bias.
but whats more accurate, a 95% review by 14 people, or a 93% review by 2000 (for metacritic) or 100k for steam?
by and large when you start getting into the 10's of thousands of reviews your data can tell a good picture even with the extreme outliers.
