Can i save a certain deep gnome?

Meerna gets punted into lava if I save Nere but I presume she dies with him if I skip time. Is this unavoidable?

Killed every dwarf before clearing the rubble, talked to Laridda and got the powder, talked to the gnomes like three different times, tried letting Nere out first and tried attacking him immediately.
The only result is that Meerna just nopes out of existence as soon as you turn Nere hostile, or she gets yeeted into lava alive while your character just stands there completely unfazed with a snarky look. That's it.

Really wish this game would be more consistent with this crap, all these spells and dialogue abilities and solutions for stuff and you can't even save a single NPC from a scripted cutscene. Pretty weak for a game that everyone has been putting on a pedestal tbh.

Thats the problem with scripted crap, even if you some what smartly do a roundabout it just breaks..

I don't think you can - u can try lower left corner and force start battle with Nere first before cutscene ends of Meerna gets throw to the lava. If that's still result in Meera dies in lava then its hardcoded to be that way she is destined to DIE

Did you bring any summons or a shapeshifted party member?
They tend to bug that encounter in multiple ways.

Nah, wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary really.
Either they just didn't bother programming a way to stop Nere, or they did but it's so poorly scripted that you have to do a dozen different things in the exact correct order.

Makes it pretty hard to feel like the hero when your character just smirks at your enemy while you have to hear a poor innocent slave girl get burned alive in the background. lol

spot on... over hyped as usual... and there are cases like this all throughout the game...

I couldn't save her I attacked him before the cutscene happened but after girl is gone and her brother is still crying that Nere killed her. He couldn't have dude his brains 'pouring out of his skull' never left that room.

After Hot Fix #2, and I just went through trying to do this, first playthrough and didn't know about the potential bug. This matches my experience. Her brother Welso yells that she's still back there, while Lunkbug and Beldron are saying she and Wicky died "in a flash", and Barcus "doesn't have time for social breaks", while Elder Brithvar who I colluded with is just complaining "Nere's corpse is already stinking up the place". The journal entry is still on "check for survivors".

Which really sucks since to progress I'd have to reload the save, let her die, and then fight Nere again which I don't really want to do.

All i'm seeing in that screenshot is an NPC confirming that she's dead. lol

I think this is a bug because we got the attack button during the cutscene where she is pushed into lava. This was marketed as option to interrupt cutscene deaths, yet we can't save that one NPC?

I couldn't save her either, but 1 step to getting closer: Throw up a zone of silence on top of the rocks. Then when you blow them up, he'll walk out and you can see her alive, but can't start the cut scene silenced. Might give people a chance to do something.

But even if you position it so she's not silenced, you can't talk to her. And if you attack Nere, both sides of the dwarves gang up on you and she disappear anyway. Then, if you disarm the guy and pick up his weapon, the gnomes turn on you too ><. Maximum failure.

No you cannot save Meerna. I "sneak" kill and surprised Nere and Meeera is nowhere to be seen after battle. In fact she is no where to be seen right after rubbles are cleared. You're using mod. Or whoever have this screenshot posted on third party site rather than steam screenshot is fishy as ♥♥♥♥ and 100% using mod.

I tried to banish Meerna using Gale's banishment before attacking Nere but it's not working.
Meerna's brother cries for her even when she should still be "in another plane of existence".
