Normal people: "This is HILARIOUS!"
Now, should they "fix" this? Yea. They should. Or at the very least inform you up front about what you are about to get.
Oh that is not quite true. Apart from some phrases like "hardcore absolutists" and "Baldurs Gate is the most diverse city in Faerun, we should welcome them with PRIDE!", there are none that speak 21st century slang in every line, like Carlach does.
It's wierd that you think this is isolated to Karlach. Maybe because she swears more than the others?
Karlach. You were close. Sort of.
And it's a fantasy game. Not a historical game. Technically nobody in Faerun talks like anything because Faerun doesn't exist.
I wish it was completely fabricated.
Yeah, it just doesn't seem to me as much (at all really) with any other chars. But her with teh "motherf**ker that saves the world" , "f**k me", "soldier" etc its just too blatant. The word "f**k" aka Fornication under consent of king has become a slang much later in history than the tolkinian "medieval europe" from where Ed Greenwood and DnD have stolen their setting and lore from (mostly).
It is a "fantasy" world, and not a docuseries, I grant you guys that, but it has always been felt as more of a medieval than sci fi or current day fantasy to most of the player base me included. Karlach belongs more in Cyberpunk 2077 than in BG3 is how i feel.
Butt to each their own.
Fixed it for you. [/quote]
Thank you very much.
imagine game devs to change a game because some few snowflakes demand things while the majority is ok with it
Haven't gotten there myself so not sure how this scene plays out, but it does make me want to reconsider Karlach.
If something like that is coming up the player should have a dialogue option to be like "Hey, whoa, I'm not comfortable with this" or "Exciting, lets try it." sort of thing wouldn't be amiss.
