any way to cast guidance on a friend mid convo?

doing a two player play through and ive noticed that you cant use reaction casts of people not chained to the person talking. so I want to know if there is a way for me as player 1 to be able to let player 2 use my or my companions spells in his conversations

Lower left corner is four brownish icons, one of them should let you pick another character.

as far as i know you can only cast it on them before the initiate a convo had the same issue with my coop bro

Ahh I will have to look for that. I hate accidentally having the wrong character for the check chosen and not seeing a way out of it.

thats only characters I control, if the other player has them I cant switch to them
