Perception fail at detecting goblin stash?

For some reason, my companions fail at detecting goblin stash. The highest perception score is Astarion with +4. However, when I stand next to the where the stash is marked it is usually Shadowheart that gets perception failure.

Shadowheart usually detects traps and other things of interest even though her perception is one point lower. Why?! This doesn't really make any sense. Anyway, how do I detect this accursed goblin stash? I've completed most of the quests in this area and still can't seem to detect it with my companions.

since it is marked on your map you can use a shovel right where the marker is on the minimap and dig it out, I had the same thing happen to me too

yeah you can still dig. I've found a few spots that looked suspicious and used the shovel and found some chests that I never had a check for.

Also if you get the dog at camp, eventually you will get an ability to summon him as a familiar and he will bark and point his body towards a spot you can dig. He sniffs out hidden treasure.
