I'm not a D&D expert at all, but I believe the dice roll plays a big role (see what I did?) within the D&D realm.

For anyone who has not figured it out yet, this translates to:

Yet your willing to waste time waiting to see what responses people give this post. If this isn't a troll that's about standard for the average impatient gamer these days.

It could've been done better, but I think they wanted to underscore the dice rolling aspect of D&D.

However, I do prefer how Disco Elysium did skill checks. You're met with the success chance when you hover over the option, then a really short effect after you click, and then the dialogue continues with your successful or failed outcome. No clicking continue after a failed roll.

I feel like having the player press continue after a failed roll will result in more people save scumming than otherwise. Force the failed roll dialogue, and let the player experience what the failed roll dialogue entails. Disco Elysium got this right where others have misstepped

Nobody is saying to remove the prompt, just the fancy animation with the flashes and colours. You could still click and choose whatever buffs you want.
now i wanna know what you mean cause what flashes? and the only color is the dice color?

if the creator wants to skip the animation then that includes the entire UI for it, it'd turn into the passive perceptions/ingights/arcanas that we have walking around/in the top left, which much like i said before, unless you have guidence constantly applied, you will miss out on bonuses that way

Again, nobody is saying that. You can skip the dice roll animation with a click. The argument is to give players an options to always skip that animation (not the whole screen and the bonuses, obviously) instead of having to manually skip it with a click every time. That's all. It's a minor thing, but I kind of get it.

page 3 states otherwise but im sure you can just go back and read that.

to repeat what i said as well: there is a skip already in place, which is clicking one more time, that is the quality of life feature that skips the roll that the TC would want.

beyond that you would then be asking for a skip for the skip, which quite frankly is very silly when there is a feature already provided that skips the rolling.

Mouse 1 and boom it's done.

edit: but if you are that impatient then i guess there is no hope for you anyway.

@OP
I think I made a very similar post. 2 years ago. Its still here.
I would rather it not be visible. But the game is still fun.

One thing I like about what they did is that during dialogue and other checks the game makes it easy for you to use buff spells like eagles splendor and guidance to further boost your roll.

Also every thief kit and trap kit is basically a re-roll for your trickery checks.

I hope they do do kinda get rid of it like you ask still.

Perception checks are done like that though. They are done in the background and you just here a click of success or failure. (I like that). .... (I still think it would be nice to just do that for all the checks in the game.

If they did that they could implement something even faster like rerolling with a simple click of the mouse without seeing the dice.

Again I would rather it be like BG1and2 and Pathfinder where you don't see it at all.

But the game is still FUN. Just an FYI.

It be nice if the developers just made it so we don't have to see it at all though.

You already own it and are going to play anyway. You were sold on day 1, and you will play and like it. Now, get to work.

It will skip the rolling part of the animation, but it takes interminable ages for the top number to be compared to the die roll and to draw the sparkly success or failure part of the animation. It's not a show-stopper for me, but I agree it's a waste of time after hundreds of rolls.

I think it is fun! It feels more like playing a real D&D game where the dungeon master tells you to roll a 1D20 dice and you just hope to make it a good roll! In any case, most game where an action or attack has a chance to fail are using random numbers, you just don't see the dice!
