I give up on this game. The boss at the end of act 2 is too hard
I'm talking about the apostle. It's a 2 phase boss fight, the first phase being easy enough. I blast the skeletons on the left with a fireball, then I focus on the mindflayer who has this ridiculously powerful attack, then I reach phase 2. Ennemies spawn from pods everywhere, my magic attacks have a 30% success rate, if I get close to the boss he destroys me. Is it another case of having to use a very specific spell I might as well never selected when I was level up? I've seen some guy on youtube kill him in a single turn by chaining reactions with his barbarian, how the hell can we even do that? I tried lowering the difficulty but it's still hard as hell.

Too bad, I really wanted to finish the game, it's great otherwise. But I think there are too many specific little details that never get explained, too many BS attacks that take half of your health. I can't even go back up to buy some healing items, I'm stuck underground. I don't see how I can possibly win this. And before someone mentions it, I can't free the lady at the bottom right of the arena because I killed her with Shadowheart.

I not the sharpest tool in the old shed but the fact that he has a certain someone
being held "AGAIN" kinda makes him like superman. Maybe release her {very easy}
and than see how easy it gets lol!
I survived him literally with 1HP and 3 of my party members dead. It was great :D. Try using scrolls, elixirs and potions. They can help you. also you can precast a lot of spells, if you want to cheese the fight.

You don't have to do anything to win this fight, just keep nightsong alive.

will be quite hard to do that, since he said that he killed her with shadowheart

got it first try - custom wizard, custom bard, karlach, astarion

tl;dr check urself before shrek urself
You're not quitting.
lol ended at first try without buffs on tactician- paladin/laizael. gale/shadow heart did close to nothing beside freeing nightsong who also landed 1 hit.

its ironic but the most dif boss was spider in act 1. I didnt know you could ignite her web.

One trick I used was if you can get him to drop his weapon with something like fear, command or disarming attack, his weapon will just fall into the void and he can't pick it back up, significantly decreasing his damage output. you might have to get a little lucky for him to fail the save but if you can get it to work it's well worth it.

I'll be honest, the Diva saved my ass during that fight. I mean I did most of the work, damaging him but she finished him off when I was on my last leg.

Look, this game isn't like Dark Souls and stuff, there are so many ways you can prepare for a fight it's actually kind of amazing. And if you pay attention around here you can learn so many tricks you can employ to make your fights so much easier.
I just entered level 8 after the first Ketherics fight, I battled that boss a few times before deciding to just keep healing Nightsong. It let her live as well as let Shadowheart since I had her make her own decision to kill night song ands she didn’t.

The legendary mace from the creche makes this fight trivial even on tactician.

Guess you shouldn't have done that, huh? In any event you can definitely win this battle even if you don't have Aylin for help. Make your whole party invisible so you can get all your players into position without triggering any cutscenes. Then you can make some very strong attacks on the most annoying creatures. Focus your attacks on the mind flayer and Ketheric/Myrkul. Ignore the skeletons. Get a strong barbarian up close to Myrkul and beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of him -- Karlach is a beast in this battle, by now she can do 3 attacks per turn and average over 20 damage for each attack. The bone chill is a problem, but by now all your characters should have misty step, so you can teleport away in an emergency and heal.

I finished the fight today on tactical. party level 8. Bard(college of swords)/Astarion(thief-rogue)/Minthara(paladin)/Shart(trickster cleric - I know thats bad specialization, I am just not big fan of respec). I had saved Nightsong, but she was not useful too much. Most of the fight she was dead :-D (but she shoved her dear Isobel into abyss, lol). With Minthara I smited boss (she scored few nice criticals), my bard was mostly cannon fodder, shart was healing the group and cleaning necromites at the bottom of platform (two still managed to get through and get eaten), Astarion was sneaking attack with his dualwield. The fight was not easy for me, and I had to reload, but it is doable, if part of your team disengage in order to avoid the bone chill debuff. Then I also got lucky, because I managed to heal my bard for few hp, than the boss targeted her and she was down again. But it's most lethal attact went to substract only few hp. And I also got lucky that he missed few of his scythe swings. I had elixir of bloodlust on astarion and elixir of giant on Minthara. Shart had arcane cultivation for more spell slots and my bard had the one for concentration. Next time I will probably try to disarm the boss, it never occured to me, that it is possible :-D And as for the legendary mace. It didn't work in this fight. Later I found out, that if any of the shining weapons (moonglaive and blood) are dimmed by the shadow aura, they need to be reequiped, otherwise their effect is not working. I was surprised through the whole section, why the undead are not blinded :-D
