I give up on this game. The boss at the end of act 2 is too hard

I'm talking about the apostle. It's a 2 phase boss fight, the first phase being easy enough. I blast the skeletons on the left with a fireball, then I focus on the mindflayer who has this ridiculously powerful attack, then I reach phase 2. Ennemies spawn from pods everywhere, my magic attacks have a 30% success rate, if I get close to the boss he destroys me. Is it another case of having to use a very specific spell I might as well never selected when I was level up? I've seen some guy on youtube kill him in a single turn by chaining reactions with his barbarian, how the hell can we even do that? I tried lowering the difficulty but it's still hard as hell.

Too bad, I really wanted to finish the game, it's great otherwise. But I think there are too many specific little details that never get explained, too many BS attacks that take half of your health. I can't even go back up to buy some healing items, I'm stuck underground. I don't see how I can possibly win this. And before someone mentions it, I can't free the lady at the bottom right of the arena because I killed her with Shadowheart.

I did the exact same thing as you, and I am currently reloading before I jump down the hole to respec SOMETHING that might work for me, if I manage to get lucky enough to find something that works ill be sure to post it here for you

a 2 phase boss after walking through a mini dungeon with resource draining fights is kind of insane (all the while you cant long rest)

Do you have Gale? Because he has a special way of defeating any boss.

Really? I found him to probably be the easiest boss in the game so far. Just cast Blindness on him and deal with the stragglers. If you're having that much of a hard time before entering the fight cast haste on Lae'zel/Frontline character and have them jump to the mindflayer and smash him.

are you talking about his Netherese Orb ability? does it do something different if you do it here? because he did mention wanting to blow up in the heart of the absolute so this would be the perfect place to do it

Hi guy - what you wanna do is haste your martial classes, make sure you're drinking your elixirs, make sure you are drinking your haste potions, make sure you are buffing correctly (summons benefit tremendously from AID spell), and space out your characters AROUND the boss in a circle. Make sure to "examine" boss for any weaknesses and plan with that. Also what level are you? You may be underleveled depending on how much you skipped. I know a buddy I had to help was like level 8 (you should be around 9ish, or even 10) for that fight because he literally rushed to end of act 2 which is a big NO since the bosses are pretty strong.

You can heal at the tentacle thingy before the fight if you're having trouble recovering.

I found the fight a little overtuned, but was able to lean on the assimar to do a ton of the damage. Shar doesn't seem to be of much benefit, so that makes the fighter harder. I guess that's true to lore, but it makes an already difficult fight a lot harder I suppose.

Fighting in melee is kind of a bad deal considering the aura which prevents healing. I'm not sure what I'd have done if I didn't have the aasimar ally to help out. Definitely have to focus on the adds, as they not only deal a lot of damage, but the boss can sacrifice them.

You absolutely CAN long rest right before ketheric fight, there is a healing pod before the drop down to the lower level.

Okay so you killed Nightsong so you've already made the fight harder on yourself. Sooo, just learn really.

As others have said above, cast blindness on the guy. By the time he spawns all the adds should be dead anyway. Just focus all you've got into him. I beat him first try without any of the extra little adds he spawns even getting past their incubation stage, and I was definitely not prepped properly for the right at all.

use a program called wemod, turn on god mode and kill him then turn it off. thats what I did

I struggled with this fight last night, specifically the last phase of it. I pretty much just saved any time i did damage and would load back when ♥♥♥♥ went bad, and would just keep doing it until i beat it

didnt realize those restoration things granted spell slots also, thought it was just healing to full

Yes it's a Full Long rest which was lucky for me when I showed up since I used quite a lot clearing all the previous fights.

Important to know though is what Party you have and what Level you are at?
Otherwise I would just say stay calm and think through your Strategy I'm sure you can do it!

level 8 everyone
astarion - warlock pact of the blade with heavy armor prof
shadowheart - life cleric
lae'zel - battlemaster fighter
(before I just switched just now) was Karlach berserker

I just switched karlach out for Gale so I can see if magic helps in this boss fight but before this boss fight I was STEAMROLLING the game with all the damage I was putting out so fast, everyone except shadowheart was hitting atleast twice in a move. hoping Gale's magic adds some variety that might help in more situations, including just now knowing about the full rest object
