Nah, Wrath definitely still does for the most part, but difference there is they also included broken homebrew Mythic Paths, and if you happen to pick the extra broken ones, it's kinda nutty how much it can trivialize much of the game.
What did BG3 good is it gave players playground for different approaches (like in PnP DnD). What it did bad, it gives a very few tools for brute forcing (compare to DnD5e) in battles. That's why pure battle is simple and pretty boring, but using environment is fun in BG3.
If owlcate games would have same freedom it would be much more fun.
You guys just can't help yourselves can you? Every time someone wants BG3 to play like BG1 & 2 you have to tell the world how wrong they were for daring to exist without the DOS2 turn-based combat system.
Show me on the doll where the fun and enjoyable games touched you, and we will get you the help you need
My Wotr party used that mod since for every combat I have to rebuff about 100+ buffs to cast, made worse by "Metamagic: Completely Normal Spell" feat (cast/move a spell down 1 level in your spellbook) from Mythic Trickster, which allowed me to cast level 1 spells as cantrips on a bunch of party members too lol.
Oh yeah that's what Baldur's Gate 3 needs for Sorcerer! Move out of the way Walock unlimited level 1 spells here we come! :D
Anyways the basic answer to this thread is: If you don't like DnD 5E combat why would you even look at this game to buy or play it ever?
It would be like me not liking race simulators, then buying a really popular one then saying you know what this is bad/boring, it should be more like a Turn Based DnD CRPG. Not quite the same but we all get it! :p
I'm having a blast because it's more tactical than 3.5's number stacking as you say. It's reminding me, but not as exciting as, Xcom turn based combat flow wise.
BTW, Rogue Trader looks ♥♥♥♥♥♥ to me. They don't seem to understand that TB combat encounters need to be designed differently from RTwP.
At least here when i make a big burly muscular guy i don't have to wonder if he should fling spells or hit people in the head with a big club.
