Can't recruit Halsin

1. I triggered the celebration.
2. Halsin is in my camp.
3. He cannot be recruited into the actual party.
4. His dialog choices never change.

Any ideas?

This article - https://www.gamespot.com/articles/baldurs-gate-3-how-to-recruit-halsin/1100-6516636/ - makes it clear he's critical to resolving the Thaniel quest at Last Light which is early in Act 2. I'm well into that and still he can't be added to the party.

In fact he keeps cycling through the same three lengthy screeds he has about Thaniel, the curse, and being comfortable in the camp. Feels like a looping progstop.

FINISH the party celebration in your camp... the next day he'll adress you and THEN you have the option to recruit him

that never happened to me. you can recruit him but he wont join my party. I remembering reading he can part way through and act. Sorry for the spoilers, I thought it was a bug.

So, this happened to me. I actually had him as an extra companion, but died, so then I told him to stay. After I finished the quest, he just joined me and stayed in my camp. I just gave up and let him stay. in the next act, though, he eventually offers to join the fight through the story. So just have patience. :) I'm not telling you when/how it happens. haha. Enjoy! Also, I guess it could be different depending on the path you took. (That's the part I love most about this game)

Edit: To clarify, I told him to stay instead of helping me with the goblin leaders after I died the first time.

I have the same problem. Did the celebration in my camp. Halsin appears in my camp and I can talk to him but the dialogue option to have him following me never comes up.

if any party member dont spak with you or dont go forward on the story
gate back and rest there
example you rest in shadowlands or in an dungeon and the party member dont speak or go forward gate back to first zone and then rest there and speak with all chars if that dont help gate underword and rest there
most time you can fix it (it helped me to fix an proplem where one party member dont speak with me and stay all time on same text)
proplem is when your main char said i need rest and you dont see it you will miss an trigger

did u free him ?
u have to go to the goblin camp and speak to him before you kill all 3 bosses there, then after you killed all3 bosses you speak again with him and can take him with you

There's a whole questline in act 2 you have to go through to get him into the party .

He joins your camp AFTER celebration. He can join your party if you do the proper quests in Act 2.
