Underdark or mountain pass? What is best?

Where should I go first? If I pick one will I lose the other? Is there some cut off point? Can I clear both areas?

Depends son, mountain pass has too much sun, underdark not so much, pick your poison

There is no good answer beyond do one, then do the other when redoing the game a second time.

Or you can do both in a single playthrough by not doing the final encounter I guess.

There isn't a cutoff, you can explore both.

If you go thru mountain pass you can get a pretty good legendary mace for healers.

I have barely explored underdark, but there is definitely A LOT more content in this zone and grymforge combined.

And yes, afaik you are free to explore both areas without any cut off points. Just make sure you don't finish act 2 main quests too soon.

the mountain pass, you can pass through in literally one fight, so however long that fight takes you. underdark is a lot more involved

FYI to advance Laezel's story/quest you have to visit the creche in the mountain pass

Mountain pass is far too hard, they dont realistically want you to go there. Underdark is your only option

note: you can get to the mountain pass from the shadowed lands (after UD/GF) you don't have to choose one over the other

You can advance Laezal quest without going to the mountain pass.

underdark > Hit the cursed forest > Then return and to the mountains via the cursed zone > Do Creche quest > Dont disarm the bomb just run
