I'm also not sure how far back "that far" is... I'm not sure what's supposed to happen.
I assumed that the dude at the inn who mentioned setting an ambush was the guy to talk to... but I never had a dialogue option to actually coordinate it. He just said I had missed my chance, and walked off.
I guess I'm going in without a lantern... this seems like a terrible idea.
What's supposed to happen though, and it seems you did it in reverse order by stumbling upon the ambush spot first without taking your chance to do so, losing out on the driders lantern, is you're supposed to first arrive at Last Light Inn, progress there till you get the ambush quest, talk to the guy on the bridge, then go out and intimidate or kill the drider for his lantern.
If you still have Mintharas Spider Lyre or whatever it is, you might be able to play it and summon the drider to take you to Moonrise, or just kill him for it there. Really, not sure how you're supposed to get there as the only ways I know how to get the lantern you've seemingly stumbled upon, and simply missed your opportunity.
I have read places that Isobel can give you one in passing, though no dedicated sources on that and not sure how you could go about doing that really.
Edit: Grymforge/Underdark if you haven't done it will have one for you as well, probably. Might be past the point of no return on that one, but assuming you can still progress it after reaching act 2, you can get a functioning, or a broken one there depending upon how you handle things.
I have multiple dozens of saves. But as I said, I'm not sure what or when this is supposed to happen. If it's when I first enter this zone, that happened over seven hours ago, before I went "back" the other route to clear that content as well... I'm not redoing that much content because of a bug.
I explored every possible nook and cranny of the Underdark-- include all quests and events at the forge-- before coming to this area at all.
Thank you.
I actually do have the Spite Lute, but I'm not sure what to do with it... I tried playing it, but I'm bad at it, so it didn't help much... I also just picked it up off her corpse, so if there are any dialogue/ quests flags related to how to actually use it, I don't have those.
Also, I did find the Moonlantern in the Underdark (in fact, I found two)... but they're both old and broken. The guy I'm supposed to ambush is the only functional one I've come across in the game.
I'll just start heading various places and play the lute... but I also found an article by a guy who said it's possible to just power through, and spend a small fortune on healing. But that once you get to the Tower, you can just fast travel back and forth... so I guess that's what I'll do.
Thanks again!
I exhausted all conversation possibilities with Isobel. She doesn't offer a lamp.
She had already given me a blessing so that I don't have to worry about the "light" curse, but it doens't help with the "heavy" curse.
Looks like I'm running.
You will end up in different entry point to act2 and there is a bad guy camp there. If you missed the ambush with harpers. The spider guy with lantern should be there hopefully or some other npc that might help ya.
If you go to the nigthsong and free it, it will reduce the heavy shadows to be navigated with just the blessing or standard lights
Not sure how I'll explore the parts I skipped by... but that's an issue for a couple hours from now.
I've made a video with workaround: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mx15Vk3eseQ
