At the party where everyone wants to sleep with everyone else for some reason Gale is all like wanna see a magic trick and i am just like you had too much to drink. Then I talk to shadowheart and she is like you missed out, you could have had me, too bad you are already dating Gale.

I dont even use Gale in my party. If you even show any polite interest in conversation with Gale the romanceable girls see you as taken.

100%. You cannot have a normal convo with Gale without it being instantly sexual interest. I have thwarted him off like 5 times already and now hes like "I'll teach you to do magic" as he ponders his past love. I'm like sure, magic is cool let me see it and BAM we basically kiss and the "intimacy" option is basically the only one.

Like FFS can I not bro out with ANYONE on the cast, especially the other males?

i don't think it's gale.
i don't have him at all, but what you're describing happened to me too with sh and karlach. i talked to sh first and politely declined her advances. i then talked to karlach and she felt awkward advancing on me because apparently i was getting close with sh and she didn't want to interfere.
so i think it's just romances in general in bg3: blunt and cringy.

People are freaking out about "woke" stuff etc.

It's not woke or whatever.

It. is. just. badly. designed. The person that did the romance is clearly not experienced in writting romance in games.

I wish. What he does is let you cast magic through him he then lets you imagine several scenarios with that magic some of which are certainly romance-coded (but I think there's a platonic option? Idk, I was trying for his sausage). Anyways, he shows general surprise if you do actually flirt with him.

Bruh in act 1 it kept forcing Gale at me so I stopped talking to him altogether once I reached act 2. I’ve been trying to romance Shadowheart since the prologue and I’ve just reached act 3 and am realizing something seems wrong, because I have her affection (or w/e that bar is) maxed out but no new dialogue or options of romantic nature have appeared yet. Fml am I going to have to restart my run from scratch…?

Made me lol and also true. Cept I found broing out with Astarion perfectly easy and non-romantic.

Gale though, he's a slippery one. Even when you don't talk to him he sends his illusion servant to ask if you wanna be a thing, and even when you tell it to get lost in act 3 your MC is likely to think they banged.

The jarring nature of the romance progression for many companions needs to be smoothed out, it isnt just Gale - and in my case, I rejected Gale and he tried again later on... lol... what

This is one of the few issues i have with the game, which I am otherwise happy with.

This is exactly why I made my second run a dark urge run. Just rip his had off instead of pulling him out of the portal - he deserves worse.
