Characters' Sexuality
I have to say, I kinda hate that every single member of my team is a bisexual...

I understand why it was done that way - to give the players as many options as possible. But in doing so, the game made all these characters come off less unique. Sexuality is a part of a person's personality. It's what makes a person unique among other things. Everybody being bisexual is no less bland than everybody being straight.

What makes matters worse is that they all want to have sex with me. Raise your approval with a character high enough, and they WILL ask you to ♥♥♥ em. Some will be more direct than others, but the point is always the same.

And finally, to make it EVEN MORE worse, the game kinda made my own character bisexual, without really giving me a choice. I noticed that in multiple scenes. Here are some examples:
1. When Gail was showing me how to control the weave, there were a lot of close up shots with looks and smiles and undeniable sexual tension. All that was missing were some sweet moans.
2. Every time Astarion hits on me, most of my options are to either agree, reject him but assure him that he is handsome, or reject him like he disgusts me.
3. Finally, I had a weird interaction with Halsin. After I saved him and he came to my camp, we discussed what our next steps are going to be and he agreed to join my group. Next time I talked to him, I ended up apologizing for hitting on...Eh? When the hell did I hit on him?!

So yeah, not happy with this kind of writing. In a hilarious twist, by trying to give me more options, the game actually limited my options. I imagine this can be addressed by patches.

Most people do ♥♥♥♥ who they want, when they want. It's just that most people only want to ♥♥♥♥ the opposite sex.

Playersexual is more akin to a quantum state - it collapses at the point you, the player, determine which direction it should take.

If you romance a same sex character, they are "gay".

If you romance an opposite sex character, they are "straight".

There are actually no truly bisexual characters in BG3, as a bisexual is a person who is attracted to both sexes.

But the romanceable characters in BG3 are definitelynattracted to onevsex or the other - it just happens to bevwhatever your sex is, if you choose to romance them.
Pretty much.

Never really cared for "Schrodinger's Horny" in writing overall personally.

Hasn't been my experience.
Met a LOT of "straight" who went the "We can have fun just please please don't tell anyone. Im not gay!!"

I have yet to meet a "straight" dude who wouldnt go for it actually. Just sometimes gotta make it a game of truth or dare so they have an "excuse"

Sounds more like weaponized peer pressure to me.

Hard to have peer pressure in a one on one setting. I think at that point its just a charisma check.

IDK what option u guys are hitting but ive not had any romantic stuff happen to me unless its with someone I wanted that with. The options are there just for inconclusiveness.

I also dislike playersexual characters. I understand why they did it, but I still dislike it cause it feels cheap. Even mainstream DA went back to characters having preferences after DA2 incident, BG3 certainly could do that too.

I was very unhappy I couldn't bang Alistair as a dude in origins. Was glad modders fixed it,

but also it's DnD. How a straight character gonna deny my nat 20 charisma roll with a +10 modifier on top. You can't say no to that.

it's not even bi. All npcs are player sexual. I hate that mechanic in games. You could argue that Bioware have a lot of their romances as bi, since they still keep some straight or homosexual characters. In this game, you get the same reaction regardless of your sex.

Yeah... what happened to the "You're just not my type" attitude among party members? As a straight guy, there are plenty of women out there who would not be attracted to at all.

That would be nice. Honestly I don't know exactly when we started needing all these "romance" options in games but I never like them and wouldn't mind if they were all just removed altogether. When you're crushing evil skeletons and running from dragons the last thing that should be on your mind is establishing a new sexual relationship.
Because people want them. It's that simple. I have yet to play a single RL DnD campaign where someone didn't roll to bang the boss or one of the NPCs. Not one. Out of thousands of hours. Someone always wants to roll for a roll in the hay.

Alright, settle down, Sheldon.

Might be a hot take, but personally I blame the Game of Thrones TV show and other such things for either starting or accelerating the trend in writing that the mere presence of sex qualifies as "mature" writing.

To me mature writing can even show up in more lighthearted or simple stories, it's about nuance and subtlety and questions without solid answers that lead to the audience thinking deeply about things for themselves. Just putting a bunch of violence, backstabbing, sex and emotional manipulation or having near every character be a raging jackass at best is kind of the opposite of that to me.
