Also if in doubt you can always try reading the spell description from the PHB of D&D 5e for more clarity
39.1 hours in and my party hasn't died yet.
I stay away from those magic users by using a Fighter, Monk, Rogue and Ranger.
No Thunderstruck spells for me.
Just standard left hooks, snipes, and jabs.
they need to fix this like they did for other spells in EA that had the same problem, the red zone does not actually show you the damage zone, you can take damage if you're within about 5 ft of it, but for whatever reason my character always takes damage just from casting wall of fire.
ive been trying to do this one combat encounter for two days now. that was my best one yet. granted im being a stubborn ass and trying to get it perfect and reloading constantly. i would be happier if i can get an actual surprise round in but its impossible cause once a kill becomes noticed it goes into dialogue before combat so no surprise there.
what I want is my 3 range to hit the boss while my barbarian jumps from the rafters and does a plunging attack on him with the help of feather fall scroll. that's physically impossible due to the way this game is programed.
and yeah ill learn that cone does not move character
Ah, I can understand the frustration then. It might not be what you want to hear but maybe you just, can't get a perfect surprise attack in this specific encounter? I won't ask which one as I want to avoid spoilers but it sounds like that dialogue is meant to be there. Have you looked for things like barrels, chandeliers to knock down on your enemies? Can you talk to them first and change the outcome? And (in my opinion) sometimes it's best to just leave it to fate. This is a dnd game first and foremost, and you aren't meant to be the perfect, all knowing and all powerful hero. Either way, I wish you good luck on your sneak attack! Maybe there is another angle to look at, another avenue of approach?
the spell tooltip tell you how its used.
when an attack is going to make you move, it will show you a ghost of your character of where you will move to before you confirm the attack, so if you dont see it, then you wont move.
