If you Mist step in stealth on the top of the tower and jump to the Chest. You can easily Shoot everything down with bows and keep going in stealth each turn. IF you do this right, they won't even bother climbing the tower.
After wasting 3 hours of my time fighting this thing out right.. then result to stealth cheese. You get a crap green ring and a crap green club called the Ironwood Club. NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT IT. Nothing about it on the Wiki page either.
It's a troll boss I guess? Meant to waste your time and you put so much effort only to get garbage.
I beat it by sending my fighter in way ahead of my party to soak up hits and draw them all together. Then, my paladin used a light spell and killed one which went on to kill most of the other mobs. A bit of cleaning up led to it being my whole party against the main boss (after helping up my downed fighter) and it was one-sided after that. The loot is crap, but it yields a LOT of XP.
Simple adaptation from this strategy, I placed my entire party near the bottom of the ramp, just outside of the maximum Dash range of any of the smaller mobs (+ a few meters for explosion aoe). I cast sanctuary (makes a party member untargetable) on Lae'zel then sent her in to trigger the event. All the mobs dashed to run towards the second closest party member, when my turn came around I used a ranged attack to kill one of the smaller mobs which caused a chain aoe that basically killed everything except the boss and 1 of the larger adds. Clean up the fight as normal.
Edit: Also alchemist fire was useful against the small ones at the start.
I did but I came across it at the very start of act 2 and was pretty low level. I came back later and was able to beat it first try with a couple more levels under me.
