Help, how to kill The Shadow Cursed Shambling Mound boss at start of Act 2.
Right after you meet the Harpers and they tell you to follow them to their place I choose "give me a minute". This caused them to run away so now I'm just trying to figure out where to go. Anyway, while exploring super close to there you come across a broken tower with a big ladder. There is this huge boss (I assume it's a boss) called the Shadow Cursed Shambling Mound that spawns itself and a ton of mobs. I've tried and tried but I can't beat it.

My party is only level 5, but close to 6 and this boss is level 9. More then likely I'm probably not even supposed to try it at this point but I've been trying lol. I've got my butt kicked several times now.

Has anyone managed to defeat this thing? Any idea or tips or tricks?

It's a complete waste of time. I had Cheese the thing using Stealth Range game. There is a tower with a chest above it that gives you a crappy ring that lights you on fire so you can apply Heat buff. (Ring of self immolation)
If you Mist step in stealth on the top of the tower and jump to the Chest. You can easily Shoot everything down with bows and keep going in stealth each turn. IF you do this right, they won't even bother climbing the tower.

After wasting 3 hours of my time fighting this thing out right.. then result to stealth cheese. You get a crap green ring and a crap green club called the Ironwood Club. NOTHING SPECIAL ABOUT IT. Nothing about it on the Wiki page either.

It's a troll boss I guess? Meant to waste your time and you put so much effort only to get garbage.

I just beat this, the boss levelled me up to level 7 so I was one level ahead of you at 6. I died a couple of times almost instantly, the hardest thing is that when you kill one of its mates it explodes and does damage to everything around it, so if they quickly surround your party you basically can't lose.
I beat it by sending my fighter in way ahead of my party to soak up hits and draw them all together. Then, my paladin used a light spell and killed one which went on to kill most of the other mobs. A bit of cleaning up led to it being my whole party against the main boss (after helping up my downed fighter) and it was one-sided after that. The loot is crap, but it yields a LOT of XP.

Simple adaptation from this strategy, I placed my entire party near the bottom of the ramp, just outside of the maximum Dash range of any of the smaller mobs (+ a few meters for explosion aoe). I cast sanctuary (makes a party member untargetable) on Lae'zel then sent her in to trigger the event. All the mobs dashed to run towards the second closest party member, when my turn came around I used a ranged attack to kill one of the smaller mobs which caused a chain aoe that basically killed everything except the boss and 1 of the larger adds. Clean up the fight as normal.

I started the fight with a ranged attack to draw them out, they grouped together trying to dash into range of my characters and I fireballed them all. Killed all the small creatures and left the large ones severely injured, just cleaned up what was left after.

Good positioning, and 1 fireball took out nearly everything. 1 more round to take out the big baddy.

I polymorphed the big guy and shoved him off the ledge with a pushing attack lol

Edit: Also alchemist fire was useful against the small ones at the start.

This one was probobly the easiest of the fights for me tbh. I set gale up atop the rock platform as you asend the hill and sent everyone else in. What made this fight easy for me even at level 6 was Shadowheart. All I did was use her lv2 command>grovel which kept turn stealing the mound and one of his adds. While they were stun locked I had everyone else (my rogue MC, Karlach and gale) burn down all the adds so by the time I ran out of Shadowhearts command spell all that was left was the boss to focus fire on.

Didnt know people had problems with this. I did it first try, but it was nearly at the end of everything in Act 2. Tempest Cleric Ice Storm made short work of most of the little guys. Laezel did what she did best on the boss.

I did but I came across it at the very start of act 2 and was pretty low level. I came back later and was able to beat it first try with a couple more levels under me.

Shadowheart (or a cleric) can use Spirit Guardians and run up to one smaller mobs to trigger its explosion and run back before it explodes. Makes it a lot easier to trigger chain reactions without getting too close. :praisesun:

Get a couple of fireball scrolls and just toss them up there - one before the battle starts, and one as soon as possible after. Clears out most of the enemies via chain explosions and then you can take the rest. Make sure you stay out of range as long as possible so they can't get to you when they dash.

Fireball/glyph ward/shatter on the needlers. The big guy was just a hp brute.

I could tell when I got into this fight that I was going to be screwed, I didn't see all of his minions so when I used Shadowhearts invisibility spell on my ranger to sneak past the mound and up the ladder, they jumped us all when I picked up the key. I used a speed potion to jump to the chest on the first turn and saw the crappy ring. I summoned a fire boulder with a scroll at the top of the ladder to keep my ranger safe, and then used the arrow of roaring thunder I looted off the body of 'He Who Was' to knock off the mound and most of his minions into the chasm. Only downside is I didn't get any loot from the mound have have no idea what he had on him.
