Why are the Gith so strong?
Mainly looking for a lore reason. I was just ambushed by a Ch'r'ai, which makes sense, since from what I know they are direct servants of Vlaakith, so one of those being a threat to my level 8 party makes sense, though in the end my avatar was able to solo her due to me giving them extra attention with their build. But the others were just "Veteran Warriors" and such, and were all level 9. There is an argument made for game scaling obviously, to keep the encounters interesting for players, but it feels beyond that. Primarily, they feel a step above pretty much any other basic hostile enemy. Goblin, ogre, undead, and pretty much every absolute minion that isn't a true soul, which makes me wonder why, if there is a story reason?

I imagine them as Mossad Nazi hunters. Not only are they people aside of just being humanoid, they were also once enslaved by the Illithids and are on a zealous extermination mission across the multiverse against their former slavers.

And since their enemy are the Illithids, they home their skills respectively, making them as dangerous as their former masters at least.

... the idea that it has something to do with Penis C and Penis D clipping is mind-blowing.

The gith aren't standard humanoid mooks. They're extraplanar mooks who were mutated by the Illithid to give them psionic powers, further mutated by their Queen Vlakith and Tiamat to toughen them up a bit more, then trained from birth to exterminate the illithid. Pretty much any extraplanar enemy in D&D is going to be pretty tough.

this, but the plot twist is that their just bat-sh!t insane religious fanatics that dont mind murdering thousands of innocent civilians to advance their political goals, and the rest is just self-righteous hypocritical ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. those githyanki are ruthless, a scourge some would say.

I thought the same thing. The Gith men in particular are these anorexic looking physiques with skin and bones torsos and lanky limbs. The Gith women are shorter but notably more stocky by comparison. Their male Gith body shape looks like its a dexterity build, not a strength build.

This makes sense, and makes me kinda regret refusing to bow to Vlaakith or kill whatever fren is inside my artifact. Not only did Lae'zal choose Vlaakith over me, but now apparently I get to deal with being ambushed by super strong enemies. I guess this is probably gonna be good for EXP at least. My Oath of the Ancients Paladin would never bow to a lich

I got that feeling after visiting their creche. Pretty quickly realized I shouldn't trust these dudes ever

Lore-wise the Githyanki have gone through literal eons of development specifically for the sole purpose of being more efficient hunters and killers. They were teh original chattel-slaves of the Illithid when they ruled over at least one entire universe (possibly several) until one of them accidentally bungled whatever bitchwork she was being mind controlled into doing and ended up killing an illithid with a sharp piece of metal, which snapped her out of the mind control long enough to realize that the illithid were over-reliant on organic technology and psychic power, and that they could be kinda easily defeated by just sharp pieces of metal.

Then she went around teaching the other gith that they don't have to work 18 hour shifts in the brain processing sphincters any more with nothing but "Brain gets eaten" or "Have parasite painfully and messily devour your mind and melt your body" as retirement plans when they could just stab their bosses instead.

One thing lead to another, she lead a universe-wide revolution and killed or pushed out every illithid in their home universe, and then got in to a fight with her second in command over what to do once they won. Original gith lady wanted to keep hunting down every last illithid and turn their race into bloodthirsty warrriors and killers (Which are the Githyanki we see/play as) and the other guy took half of the gith and became the gith'zeri and decided to focus on developing psionic abilities of their own and turning all buddhist and whatnot (We don't see any of them as far as I am aware. They aren't nice, they still train themselves to fight from birth, but they don't go out of their way to raid other worlds like the Gith'yanki do).

Anyway, yeah, the gith have been fighting and refining their martial culture for at least most of the lifespan of an entire universe, and the only reason they aren't even tougher, dead-hard mofos is because that lich queen of theirs is a total moron who has deliberately kept their culture in stasis so that her people don't get TOO powerful, specifically so that any Gith that do become too powerful get funneled directly to her so she can suck out their souls for her own benefit.

Honestly this is terrifying. My character has angered half a universe, maybe both halves then. I guess I'm lucky so far they are sending ambushes consisting of 5 people instead of an invasion force.
They start working out at like 6 and training to kill mindflayers, one of the more powerful enemies in universe, at ten or some ♥♥♥♥
