So you are saying instead of Launching the game Directly. Pressing the Executable or Play button in Steam.
1. I have to wait for the Launcher to start.
2. Close out any notifications.
3. Get past the login (Skip)
4. Press Play.
What benefit does the Launcher bring vs the Incoveniences I listed.
Just launch the EXE for the game directly then. You can even still choose DX 11 or vulkan since that have sep EXE's
Go to install directory, and send a shortcut to the desktop for both versions. Done
You have not actually tried out what breadman tried to help you with, did you?
Four whole steps? Four whole clicks? Heavens above, you must be a saint to put up with that absolute ordeal.
Fortunately, I also found that the information I'd seen on several sites about "skip launcher" from within Steam, which had never worked for me, had the syntax wrong. (To be clear, it's rendered correctly in this thread.)
Thanks. That worked.
But I am still going to be pissed off at the Company that keeps calling me every 5 minutes to sell me more stuff. Their staying on the list.
Probably has too many steps to resume a game.
See? No need for drama.
The most interesting stuff i could find is currently:
- It has some usefull small helpers for people without common computer skills
- It does the dx11 / vulkan switch for the user to not need to struggle with finding the proper .exe
- For BG3, there is a special "-modded" parameter, which is set to 0 or 1, depending on wether mods have been detected.
- It checks for the gpu driver, as its a common problem people spam the support tickets using an ancient gpu driver.
So it looks like a quite good utility for launching the game so far, and defenitely helps them and a the users avoiding a lot of absolute beginner issues. Especialy not encrypting it, shows a LOT of transparency to the user. Its defenitely not some kind of wacky origin / ea / ubisoft drm crap. So this is one launcher im totaly okay with :)
