Crossbow Expert
I was re-creating a ranger I had in a session a while ago who took Crossbow expert. One of the advantages was that it ignored the loading property allowing more than 1 attack per round and you could fire a hand crossbow once, and then again as a bonus action. However, in this game it simply states the "no disadvantage in melee range" and an improved piercing shot.

Is there loading properties in the game, will I be able to shoot twice with my hand crossbow with it, do I even need it? I'm kind of confused as to how this all works.

cross bow in this game doesn't have the reload trait, it different from blow with its special abilities. one disables enemy, one lets you do more damage each time you attack the enemy.

if your character can attack twice, then yes hand cros attack twice. but not the off hand one, the off hand hand cross use bonus actions to attack, and you only get one attack out of that one i think.

Ok, so there is no reload trait, can I get the bonus attack with one hand crossbow (that's how it worked in 5e, or do I specifically need a second one?

Thanks for your answer so far.

Was reading other feats, seems they changed some around (at least from what I remember but I last played 5e a couple years back IIRC.

Can confirm. At lvl 5 my Ranger can shoot twice with the Heavy Crossbow.

I'm just sad they made it work only with crossbows, I was looking forward to Eldritch Blast at point blank range with no disadvantage.

Its actually weirdly implemented cause crossbows say they have reload as to what this means who knows you can still fire many bolts without reloading. Only larian knows.

most martial classes get to attack twice at level 5. that's not specific to crossbow expert or ranger

They baked the biggest part of some of the feats directly into the game - another example is war caster, it allows you to cast spell even when you don't have a free hand to do so.

But they chose instead to remove the V,S,M tags from spells, this ofc also means that you can't cast that doesn't require Vocal inside of silence.

Not sure what that means for Sorcs and their subtle magic

What he is getting at is that per 5e rules you can't shoot a crossbow twice w/o crossbow expert because of the loading property. Regular bows would work fine though
