Persuasion checks... why use charisma?
If you want to win any of the arguments later on in the game.. you need to pass this check which forces you to roll high charisma.. it's linear gameplay. Why can't it be based off other stats that also make you a leader.. like Strength or Dexterity? Being likeable isn't enough to lead. It certainly shouldn't enable persuasion. Hit someone with a hammer works just as well as words.

Um you are talking about INTIMIDATION, that's strength base. Persuasion is about moving your mouth hole while spewing ♥♥♥♥ to get them to like you. Hitting them with a hammer or scaring them with your bulging muscles is strength

Yeah there's different checks that indicate use of a different ability score appropriately.

You can pick a fight with anyone, just attack them until you persuade them to death with your strength.

If you wanna talk though, that’s charisma baby. Some got it, some don’t.

Intimidation is strength, Persuasion is Charisma...

Why is it like this? Because that's how it is irl, it makes sense.

I'm sorry, but you're not going to convince me who to vote for in our Presidency, simply because you're dexterous and can spin knives like a champ.

Game is based on the D&D 5e ruleset which assumes that if you're trying to be persuasive, you need to have communication skills, which are reflected by your Charisma. Of course, if you're trying to convince someone that you're also pretty strong, having high strength and being super bulky would help (usually by granting you advantage in the persuasion roll) but the core idea is that if you don't know how to communicate properly, you won't be as persuasive

Because charismatic people aren't charming or Persuasive...

"Can you just let me past without a fight." /Does back flip.
"What you are doing is morally wrong and you need to rethink your position." /Flexes muscles.

That's why.

Charisma isn't just "likeability," it's literally the leadership stat. There's plenty of physically strong people who no one wants to follow, and physically weak people who just have a magnetic personality.

I've had plenty of checks using alternate ability scores already. Depends on the situation, and the mouseover tooltip tells you.

The check is based off your skill which is partly based off your stat as a base proficiency. Isn't there a few skill ups? I'm assuming you can choose intimidation.
Intimidation is based on Charisma.
I don't know why people are saying it's based on Strength.

He made solid arguments, and he's a great guy, but I simply can't trust someone who can only bench 1 plate.

Oh man, all these people thinking intimidation is strength based instead of charisma are hilarious.
fenrik07 Aug 8, 2023 @ 12:05pm
Probably based on Dnd rules?

Probably because it's an optional rule in tabletop, but yeah by default (and in this game) Intimidation is Charisma.
