Necromancy of Thay Disappeared

Not sure what happened, I picked up the book a while back, but it is no longer in my inventory. The quest gives me two options: finding some way to open it; or destroying the book. Anyone know how to fix this?

Seems like I've been struck with this as well, on Honor Mode no less so it's not like I can reload an old save. Didn't notice until I got the codex and went to finish the book, but it's just... gone. Checked all my companions, checked stash, even went back to the prison to look around and notta.

Same thing has apparently happened to me. I have looked in every inventory for every companion. Checked and rechecked the camp inventory and its just gone. Im putting in a report to Larian but not holding out much hope

The same book went missing for me. I haven't yet found it, if it's even find-able. I have not been imprisoned, neither in Wyrm's Rock nor anywhere else; it's my first game and I've only just arrived in Wyrm's Rock. Oddly, I still have (back) the dark amethyst gem, which I had inserted into the book but (re)appeared later after the book went missing.

If I had its item ID, perhaps I could spawn a copy of it with the Script Extender console.

Even if you spawn it with the UUID, the quest is broken because the spawned book isn’t flagged as read

I did manage to spawn the book again eventually, but as you said I couldn't interact with it further. Oh, well... another playthrough perhaps....

This happened to me too, and I pinpointed the exact moment: After you wake up from the celebration party in your camp - after saving the grove by killing the goblin leaders. I have a save I was able to go back to, and just replicated it. Major bug!!!

This thread is from 2023 🤣🤣 but I'm sorry for your books loss! It should have bin sent to you or will be eventually thru a "backpack" that should have bin everything astarion had on him, however if you gifted it to him via dialogue it become his anyway and you couldn't use it.

This thread is from 2023 🤣🤣 but I'm sorry for your books loss! It should have bin sent to you or will be eventually thru a "backpack" that should have bin everything astarion had on him, however if you gifted it to him via dialogue it become his anyway and you couldn't use it.

I didnt give it sadly, I kicked him out and then the book went with him, I Tried my way around it and mod it back in, And now I get a message "cant use that right now" lol fully broke it,

The book has a few rules to open it, first you need the jewel for its mouth, and in order to read it you need to be the first to open it, so if mods added it, it probably needs to be the unopened version, I'd suggest 1 with no "key" in it and spawn the key separate If you lost that to.
