Love the game, GOTY for me...but two gripes
1. The map/minimap is horrible. From where my party is standing or facing, its difficult to have some sense of direction with the minimap turning. Would love an option to lock it in place. (or does this exist already?)

2. Crashes. I've experienced a lot of crashes so far. Noteably the first one that wiped out about 45 minutes of progress. Since then, I save my game after every fight. I would love to go longer between saves but I value my time more than a pure playthrough.

yes there is an option. minimap is literally the same direction your camera is facing. my problem is i dont like crpgs that have a rotating camera at all, i get no sense of where i am because of that, and im constantly re orienting the camera to north lol

Yup there's an option in settings to make the mini-map face north at all points so its fixed direction.

As for crashes... I have been playing BG3 since it was fully released(not EA) with my friend in co-op and we had no crashes at all, currently early on in Act 2.

You can change the minimap to always face north in the settings, so that is one less gripe for you :)

Exactly zero crashes in 300+ hours (~60 since full release).

I actually prefer having a locked minimap... but it would be really nice to have some indication of which direction I'm facing relative to the map. The easiest way to do this imo is to simply add a little "nose" to the pip on the minimap.

In the meantime, I'll look into letting it rotate.

I play with controller (Xbox controller support native, Steam Xinput emulation supported, too) that emulates an oft-requested feature to play like 3rd-person with WASD movement. I still keep the map N-up. Lots more taps to get to stuff than with keyboard, but the pacing of the game makes is much less of an issue.

Yah I just found the option as I logged back in. Then checked this thread hah.

One down... now fix the crashes! 35 hours probably 6 crashes.

Locked minimap is an option and the game does have an indicator on all party members as to the direction they're facing

I mean just press F5 whenever you want to save.. you make it sound like saving in this game is some hard or difficult process it takes all of 1 second.

I've got something of a potato system and I think I crashed one time while I was downloading something in the background in 30 hours. I believe there may be a memory leak though. I have 32 gb, might be worse on systems with less memory.

1. Good news, you can lock the minmap in the options! Just look at the option menu to find the right one. At the same time you can check other options that maybe improve your enjoyment.

2. There is a new hotfix out. Test it with the new hotfix if it fixes your problem. Personally I had zero in-game crashes, but maybe I'm just lucky with my hardware. Just make sure your drivers are all up to date. Especially if you have an AMD CPU, go to the AMD website and download the right chipset driver. (maybe even check your motherboard bios, but only if you know what you are doing)
