Since the full release, though, I have had much better luck with DX11. I've had a single crash in probably 40-50 hours and it's completely smooth on max settings. Vulcan stuttered a lot when moving the camera and felt jittery and un-smooth most of the time. It was playable, but the difference was very noticeable.
But that was just my own experience, it can vary for everyone so use both for a bit and see which works best.
If you have no clue what to do, just use Vulcan first and if you have any graphical problems, use DX11.
I will also say, if you have an HDR monitor and want to use HDR, DX11 is the choice you want. I have read that HDR doesn't work with Vulkan in BG3.
The only reason to choose one over the other is if you're having game crashes or other issues. Vulkan has a history in this game of causing crashes so you may do better with DX11. Other than that it doesn't matter.
The devil is in the detail.
Vulcan is almost 10 fps higher when considering minimum fps numbers. At least for my gpu and resolution.
I would say that i have noticed less hitching with vulcan but I have noticed a strange bug that there is sometimes a tiny flickering black square in the right hand corner of the screen with Vulcan. There is others posts around this bug on the forums.
Overall I still Vulcan for the higher minimum fps numbers.
