This is also info for anyone using Great Weapon Master. These two feats have a toggle passive equivalent to Power Attack.
My rogue doesn't' have proficiency with heavy crossbows for example.
How? I just told you how. Read the little tags under the hotbar, and one says passives.
Running through act 2 with great weapon feat on my fighter. 50-40% chance on nearly everyone in moonrise.
Still good odds tbh. I've missed 90% hits, so I'll take a solid 50-40 just the same.
Easy things you can do to change your chance to hit with a bow
Higher dexterity, event dexterity scores give you 5% chance to hit per, so 20 dex is an extra 25% chance to hit
Bless spell from a cleric, gives you 1d4 extra, which is a 5% bonus depending on what it rolls, not sure how thats reflected when you mouse over though.
Advantage is another 25% or so if you're behind them or from stealth
being high up gives some bonus not sure how much
proficiency in your weapon gives you +10% which increases by 5% at level 5 and 9.
Theres a bow called the Titan something or another that uses Strength instead of Dex.
Certain fighting styles might give you more ranged chance to hit, not sure if they added that.
Sometimes bows have an action you can take called Aim to make it so you dont move, but you gain more chance to hit.
In general the formula is Dexterity + proficiency +1d20 vs AC of your target, then other modifiers are applied like advantage or high grounds. thats what determines if you hit or not. But of course that 1d20 can always just roll a 19 or 20 so you'd hit anyway.
