Is Sharshooter so bad or why I only have 30% chance?
I like my Rogue but he is having the worst hit chance ever.
Max is like 50 or 55%.
Usually I run around at higher grounds and still not have more than 30 or 35%
Is that normal or is it the bow maybe or is the skill sharpshooter really destroying my chances?

It's probably Sharpshooter. It lowers your chance to hit by 25%. It's only good to use if you're constantly getting advantage, which you usually do by stealthing.
Click passives and toggle off the sharpshooter passive. It gives you 1-10 extra damage in exchange for -5 to attack.

This is also info for anyone using Great Weapon Master. These two feats have a toggle passive equivalent to Power Attack.

Are you using a weapon your rogue is proficient with? You can use any weapon in the game but you'll lose attack bonuses if you use one you're not proficient with.

My rogue doesn't' have proficiency with heavy crossbows for example.

Check your gear, maybe you have debuffs because you're not good enough with some type of armor/weapon. Use conditions such as stealth, higher ground etc. for higher % and try using 2x one-handed crossbow, since the bonus works for both hands and makes the feat slightly op.
The feat isn't bad tho. It makes it so you aren't at disadvantage when firing at enemies from a lower elevation.

wait what!? You can disable it?
How?

How? I just told you how. Read the little tags under the hotbar, and one says passives.

Press K, it should be @ the first tab (passives). I suggest you to put it into your skill panel, since you'll want to toggle it on and off sometimes.

Sharpshooter all but requires stealth, unless you have allies that can debuff the enemies in some way. -5 is a *very* large penalty and you need to adequately plan around that.

Running through act 2 with great weapon feat on my fighter. 50-40% chance on nearly everyone in moonrise. :Owlcat_sleepless:

Still good odds tbh. I've missed 90% hits, so I'll take a solid 50-40 just the same.
your chance to hit is based on your enemies AC. If its a boss they might have AC 18 or 19. i dont think ive seen anything higher than 19 yet. It can be pretty hard to hit that AC.

Easy things you can do to change your chance to hit with a bow
Higher dexterity, event dexterity scores give you 5% chance to hit per, so 20 dex is an extra 25% chance to hit

Bless spell from a cleric, gives you 1d4 extra, which is a 5% bonus depending on what it rolls, not sure how thats reflected when you mouse over though.

Advantage is another 25% or so if you're behind them or from stealth

being high up gives some bonus not sure how much

proficiency in your weapon gives you +10% which increases by 5% at level 5 and 9.

Theres a bow called the Titan something or another that uses Strength instead of Dex.

Certain fighting styles might give you more ranged chance to hit, not sure if they added that.

Sometimes bows have an action you can take called Aim to make it so you dont move, but you gain more chance to hit.

In general the formula is Dexterity + proficiency +1d20 vs AC of your target, then other modifiers are applied like advantage or high grounds. thats what determines if you hit or not. But of course that 1d20 can always just roll a 19 or 20 so you'd hit anyway.

It's a good feat for exclusively ranged characters but I would still get Dex to 20 first.
