Waiting to Steal Idol of Silvanus for Mol
If I take the idol before the goblins are dealt with, the druids freak out and start killing the tieflings. If I be smart and do it after the raid, the quest is marked as completed.
I still have the dialogue option afterwards to hand it over, but the quest remains closed. Is this a design oversight or a bug?

If you steal it after the goblins raid, Mol is dead if you haven't noticed. The goblins murdered her.

But she's not. I literally said that I can hand it over after the raid.

I haven't tried to steal the idol yet myself, but in just offering different paths to you, have you tried to expose Kagha before taking the idol? I don't believe that triggers the celebration or the war on the tieflings as you still need to rescue the main druid, but it does stop the heavy push for the ritutal

Well she should be. They murdered her in both my playthroughs. How did she survive the raid?

Mol is standing with the tieflings ready to boogy.

Not sure what you mean, you go kill Goblins and there is no raid??

OP I think you have a bug er, design flaw.

That explains it. You didn't let the goblins win the raid. Ah well, no clue then.

I will let them win next time. :)

Taking a bigger look at this, it actually makes sense for the quest to remain closed. The whole point in taking the idol isn't just so Mol has it. It's to prevent the druids from performing the ritutal which would force all the tieflings out of the camp. Them being forced out of the camp means the goblins can slaughter them easiliy. If you kill the goblins and then steal the statue, there's no point anymore because the danger to the tielfings, the original reason you were asked to take it, no longer exists. You're just doing extra that has no real impact anymore.

Mol asks you to steal it so she can turn it around for profit in Baldur's Gate, I thought.
I wasn't aware there was a way to expose Kahga though, which would explain why the ritual was still in progress. That might prevent the death of the tieflings if I had found a way to do that.

And yes, I defended the grove from the goblins instead of helping their raid. I prefer to be a good guy on my first playthrough :)

BAsically just ask around about the Rite of Thorns, and check out the servant's quarters ;)

So to guide you towards a way to expose her, if you go on the east side of the swamp there's an encounter around a giant tree with a couple tree badies and flying imps (real annoying fight). Kill them and pass a few perception rolls and find a certain letter.

You can expose here if you go to the locationed mentioned in a note/book. But I vaguely recall that ending up poorly too.

But yes, ripping the idol for Mol is a valid objective. Help the little buggers and all. I am at this point and I see that the Objective Complete is there for me and the journal states that I couldn't return it to her even though she is standing in front of me.

So I guess they want you to have the Druids killed for this to work ...

Reloaded an earlier save and finished the quest. I'll have to do the goblin defense over again, but it was fun - so I don't mind.
Thank you everyone for your help!
