Rogue V.S. Ranger

I understand the ranger is more combat, scout and survival focused. Where the rogue is more of a RP (outside of combat) and crit/sneak attack damage focused character. My question is, if I want to create a rogue focused character that is proficient with a long bow, is it better to multi class rogue with doom stalker or just build a pure rogue and give it the needed weapon proficiency ?

be a wood elf rogue, you get long bow proficiency, and you start with stealth so being a rogue you'll be a expert in stealth

Rogues can be just as good with bows/ranged as melee.
