Poor graphical optimization
hello, does anyone else have temperature problems with the game??, set it to ultra, high, medium or low, my computer gets hotter than a stick from a churrero; the computer is moderately dust free and has an rtx of 8 GB and an i9 9900k processor for more data
Use the Frame Rate Cap to limit your frames to 60, or your preference. It's likely your system is trying to hit frames that you don't need. VSync should work the same if your monitor's refresh rate is 60Hz.

Not sure about temperatures, but this game has locked up my GPU twice now.

I suggest fiding out what GPU you have in the first place. The description you presented while does give some idea what you have, it also means you have little idea of the hardware you have inside. If you don't know how to check your GPU model, download GPU-z and post a screenshot. It would also help if you could indentify your CPU cooler.

Temperature problems? What is problem? This is heavy game yes. Could it be more optimized. Yes. Everything can.

However I have exact same CPU 9900k + nvidia 3080. They are crammed in to itx sized case with bad airflow. I use 4k resolution. No FPS cap. 9900k is overcloked without power limits.

Still I do not have temperature problems. Yes the CPU 3-4 cores are heavily loaded and CPU heats up to 95 degrees. CPU is cooled by noctua L12 without it's large fan. So I have garbage CPU cooling (small case).

3080 heats up to 75 degrees and survives that as it should.

None of the above is problem. It is just my selection of really small case and stuff it with overclocked 200w CPU and 320w GPU. No proper CPU cooling possibility and no proper airflow.

I can easily tune down the theat generation with some cost to perf. Limit my CPU to normal 120w without overclock and reduce some FPS to lower GPU power draw.

TLDR; Fix your system.

It's pretty demanding on the GPU even though the graphics don't look like it.

Activate the 60FPS lock Handbreak. Perhaps it helps to calm your Card down a bit or try VSync on

What looks better?

did you cap the fps?
No problem with heat here, have you tried a frame cap? You can limit the CPU multipier too, the game dont need the max power of your Hardware. Good luck

Just to continue as example. Above PC is not usually attached to 4k monitor. It is connected to 1440p monitor.

So going to 1440p ultra settings, dropping in 100 FPS cap decreases CPU temps about 15 degrees celcius, shaves 30-40w watts from GPU, drops GPU temps about 5 degrees. And voila this badly cooled 9900k + 3080 is fully playable quite "normally"

One thing that posters here and some other threads I agree with.
Reducing settings to lower level does not reduce GPU load that much. There could be some optimizations left.

Fortunately they are cramming this game to xbox series s also and that requires lot's of optimizations. That could bring lower setting optimizations to PC also.

Thanks pal

Does anyone have feeling that performance is worse with patch #1 ? Seems to me that DLSS is kind of not working properly now.
Cirrus Aug 8, 2023 @ 5:46am
V-Sync is not best option if you have lot's of FPS variance. With double buffered v-sync FPS drop to half if FPS drops below monitor refresh rate. Etc 120 -> 60 or 60 -> 30 etc. Then again tripple buffered v-sync does not have the desired FPS-limit effect.

Other possible way if utilizing VRR supported momitor (g-sync or freesync etc) is set in-game FPS limit to monitor refresh rate (or -2 or the value you want to limit FPS) and let VRR take over if there are FPS dips. This is the method I used earlier with my 3080.

I am using a RTX 3060ti OC and a I7 11700kf. Maxed graphic settings on everything, using DLSS set to Quality. FPS are capped at 60. Using Vulkan. Temps for the CPU are less than 60c and for the GPU , around 60c.

I think capping the fps to 60 may help the OP some with the temps. This type of game, with turn based combat, you really don't need higher than 60 fps.

4060ti 8gb and i7 13700k, it runs just fine for me! I did cap my fps at 144, without it i get about 180-220~ at 1080p.
