Do you think it is normal for two heterosexual males to suddenly engage in homosexuality just because they talked at a camp 2-3 times? Can you even imagine? Do you want to?

I am talking about my character and Gale. There were nothing and I mean NOTHING that suggested that I should avoid friendly conversations with Gale. I didn't wanted to play as a gay character and the game did not showed, told or suggested to me that Gale is gay and he is into my character that way.

I have nothing against gays, but why am I low key forced to play one? This just ruined a fantasy friendship. What is the purpose of these companion characters? I mean there is a gay vampire, who I really like (as a friend lol), why do we need everybody else to also be gay?

It's just so weird and unnecessary. I am not playing DnD tabletop, is this something that people do? I mean do they get together week by week and live out homoerotic fantasies with long time same sex friends in a board game?

I guess jokes on me for buying the game early. Clearly I am not the target audience for it.

It's unrealistic, cheap, stupid and makes the game worst by turning it into a fan fic for 12 year olds.

"Romances" in this game remind me of the backer NPC or story inserts in Pillars of Eternity (some of which also included LGBTQ crap because idiots think they are being "artistic" with this nonsense), which were SOOOOO stupid compared to the writing of the actual game that they were a constant source of cringe.

But even beyond how badly written they are, and how absurd it is that every single NPC in this game wants to jump into your pants, male or female, there's also the fact this sex crap makes it impossible to have any other kind of relationship with them.

Friendship? Camaraderie? Mutual respect? Nope, can't have any of that or anything else that would deepen your relationship with the characters because the slightest friendly gesture towards them and suddenly they want you to start sucking your ♥♥♥♥, including the dudes.

It's pathetic. Reminds me of that episode in South Park where Mr. Garrison is going out of his way to be super gay because he is trying to intentionally get fired and everybody keeps clapping like a trained seal because they have to be "tolerant". That's where you guys are at the moment. This game is the RPG version of Mr. Garrison sticking a gerbil up his ass in front of a bunch of kids and you are clapping like a monkey as if it was the most natural thing in the world.

We have a game where you can turn the sex off and say no to any npc trying to hook up with you and their advances stop yet the whiners are still ignoring all that and then crying that they are disgusted at the game. I have seen several streamers play this game since it came out and they have never had unwanted sex from any npc so it can be avoided if these people really wanted to avoid it. I am playing a female character and I have only had one sexual encounter and that was only because I pursued it just to see how detailed they went into it because some were making it sound like it was a porn movie, it was a minute or so of two ladies getting undressed and doing some kissing and cuddling and nothing was greatly detailed, you can see a lot more in any R rated movie than this game portrays even with all the options turned on.

For testing I actually turned off all the options to see if it worked and then flirted with her again, the result was it showed her come to my bed in camp fully clothed and the announcer said by the look in her eyes you will not be getting much sleep tonight and then it was morning and everyone was awake, it showed nothing and did not even describe what happened.

Every advance that npc has made at my character since I have just ignored and it has not happened again, she is not my enemy because I ignored her advances and our friendship is still very high. It seems a small group just want their 15 minutes of attention over something that is actually very minimal in the game.

I think it would have been both more interesting and better gay representation if it was possible to convince any companion to try stuff but for straight characters you would actually haveto gain their trust and seduce them before that was on the table.

Faerun is a fantasy world, but I still dont think that means everyones values overlap with modern Seattle residents. Even someone exclusively attracted to their own sex in a medieval fantasy setting would probably still be a bit coy about their sexuality untill they can discern your motives just to avoid getting put on trial by some religious zealot with very particular ideas about sex and marriage.

I mean I get what he means, other rpg games explore deep friendships without forcing any kind of romance, for what i've read from other people (I don't own BG3 yet) it appears that the romance path happens too soon. maybe Larian needed the interpersonal relationships to deepen for a longer period of time for it to feel organic and in this case make it clearer.
