Rule Differences between Core 5.0 and Baldur's Gate III
I'm a DM for 5.0 for over a year, so I know the ins and outs of the system. After some research, I discovered that Hexblade had been removed (Good, it was op) However, imagine my surprise when I discovered that Pact of the Blade now makes it so you use your highest casting stat instead of either DEX or STR! So what they've done is basically move a feature from the Hexblade.

Another change I noticed is that they remade the thief subclass to not be bad. Originally, it allowed you to use an item as a bonus action.

What other changes have people noticed?

- Spiritual weapon can be attacked and killed
- War Caster only lets you use Shocking Grasp

Armor doesn't have STR requirements, Shove is a bonus action, Ready and Dodge don't exist.

Similar to the hexblade/pact of blade thing, I found out the level 5 pact of blade feature that let's you attack twice with pact weapon DOES stack with multi attack if you multiclass. My current Pallock can melee attack 3 times. Not sure if that's intended or not. Doesn't allow it until at least level 10 in a 12 capped game so no idea how broken the devs consider it.

Another big change is summoning spells are not concentration. Elemental, minor elemental, woodland being, animate dead, etc can all exist at the same time.

I'm sure there will be other differences, but those 2 are the biggest ones that have impacted my run. Definitely had more changes, but those were off the top of my head.

Like 3/4ths of the spells in the game aren't in the game, more than 3/4ths of the subclasses are missing, tons of races not present, tons of backgrounds missing, spells that are in the game function differently than in pen and paper... I can keep going but it is Divinity Original Sin: D&D Edition.

Was about to say this, such a good change.
Mage Hand is a short rest cantrip now...the first of it's kind.

Oh they also have more ritual spells. Lonstrider and Jump and Feather Fall are the ones I use the most.

sneak attack is an attack and a skill, like a spell, so you cant make wombo combos. for example when an enemy triggers opporunity attacks it doesnt trigger sneak attack, nor can combine for example a battle master manuver with sneak attack.
Not enough to make 5e fun round-to-round in combat. I'm so bummed Larian caved to the 5e purists. This game was much better when it was more inspired by 5e than based on it.
