Friend cant make a new character

So I started a campaign with a friend of mine and he left while another one of my friends joined. This caused problems however as he was left the only option to control someone elses character and he couldnt control his own. Anyone got any fixes?

If you have 4 custom characters you cant create any new ones. If you havent used all 4 slots, just send a npc companion back to camp, then have them join, it should send them to the character creation screen

Thats not the issue however as my friend cant create a new character although I have 2 other available slots. Let me rephrase the problem however

Me and Friend A started a campaign together. Friend A left and now Friend B wants to join and play but when he does he can only select Friend A's character not select his own. Hopefully this simplifies and provides clarity to the ailment my group is suffering.

yeah, thats what I did after much trouble but thats a really bad design flaw, hopefully they iron thats out as well as ability to remove other pcs characters

1.Go to steam library, locate BG3, go to properties, open file location.(or simply go to the game directory c:/users/steam/steamapps/common/games or w.e the path is)

2. close Steam entirely

3. Launch the game from .exe the directory(not the launcher the actual game .exe)

4. Launch 3 instances of the game this way

5. host a lobby from the original with your save and then join with the new created characters from the other instances of the game

6. save, close the game, and relaunch steam and the game normally with the new characters being created by you for your friends.

It's December and this just saved a friend and I. Keep your mouth closed if you're useless.

Oh boy Ill have to get my friends to join at the same time, we're having the same issue with friend A and B joining at different times and the game just auto selects friend A's friend for friend B's use. We can't seem to make a new one; so I appreciate the help with this situation.
