Gale permanently left?

Gale wanted a magic item. I said I'd give him one, but when I looked at what was available I X'd out of that box. Then Gale said something snarky and left. A message came up that he permanently left the party.

I'm still not through the goblin camp yet, so there's a ways to go. My last save with Gale was before a big fight that I don't want to go through again.

Looking online, it appears that Gale is the only true wizard in the game, which seems odd. If this is the case, I won't have a wizard for the entire game,

Is it worth it to re-do that fight so I can get Gale back?
Is it unusual that he would just up and leave on me like this?

i actually went to a vendor, bought a green item for him to consume and when i tried giving it to him, i couldn't. then he said something nasty and was gone. wtf?!

Did there read that Gale can consume it (or not) Not all items can be consumed by Galen.

Basically if you don't have it on you right that second, you can go ♥♥♥♥ yourself which is normal and good storytelling.

Gale apparently only require 3 items from you.

Now yes it also happened to me that i was about to gove him one, but since the selection of items you can give are either those you're equiped with, or have on yourself, and i need those, i was also like "Sorry i can't right now" so that i would go to the personal crate and take a useless one and he was a bit snarky and dejected.

But hje din't leave, now i do believe that he leave when you tell him No 2 or 3 times.

i can't say if this is sarcasm or not, but NO, it is not good storytelling. especially for people who play this kind of game for the first time. nothing is really explained. i like the game, but it's absolutely not beginner friendly.

i didn't check. you know, he told me he wants to consume rare items. he did not tell me that i have to wear the items, so he can consume them. it's not a big deal really, i'm sure i can play without him. it's just stupid to not even leave any room for if you just can't give him anything (because yes, i like to keep the items i am wearing) to go and get something AND you still have time to check everything. but no, guess it's "immersive" or whatever.

I think I like many others, had only one thing he was willing to take which I wasn't ready to give up yet. Playing on Tactician made me really want to keep it, so he just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off.

Anyone know if he shows up at all down the line? I don't mind him not being in the camp, but I'd hate to just have him disappear from the game.

If he is gone he is gone, seems odd that he left you, normaly you can refuse him once or twice before he leaves, so you have some warning that he needs a magic item and can go find or buy one.

Gale system needs a rework tbh, I tried giving him items at first sacrificed 20+ items and he still got mad after i donated all of them. No clue why he refused it nor do i care. Hireling does his job without stealing sellable stuff i could be using to get camp supplies and see all the cutscenes.

The game doesn't explain to you why he is rejecting some items or what went wrong he just gets snarky.

Do yourself a favor and get a hireling, Gale & The Yellow Lady both are F tier characters if game gave me same option it gave me for Yellow Lady he'd be gone too. Sure, I could attack him mid cutscene but at same time if it isn't a scripted interaction i'm not interested.

All items he can use are marked as such, all others are useless. And he eats no weapons or armor or one-use items. You also had at least one indication before the fact and can prolong it with a skill check.
Gale offers a different endgame solution, if he is there. It makes all your labors (getting the stones, all the boss fights) look completely unnecessary, as they were not needed for his, but it is a possibility. You also don't have to become a mindflayer or die yourself.

I play with three others, so it's possible they triggered this multiple times before me.
Still, feels a little odd that he doesn't show up. I know in the EA when we forgot to recruit Lae'zel she was found a little later on, doing her own thing.

For future reference the game gives you a Persuasion roll dialogue option if he's about to leave camp after the dialogue, succeeding it convinces him to stay for a bit longer while you check your inventory.

Sounds like I dodged a bullet with gale. I was already wary of him after he tried using magic to get in my pants the night before so I was extremely rude to him when the next day he announced he wanted my magic "item". He left the group and I was worried I might miss something but sounds like he is just a constant pain to deal with.
