Party members controlled by another player can't be spoken to and don't show up in cutscenes?
I'm hosting a co-op game with a friend. He really enjoys combat so he often has control of the party members via session manager and I control my own character. Without spoilers, I made a choice and in the top left it said Karlach disapproved. We ended up having to reload our save and my friend did the same cutscene. This time, Karlach had extra dialogue expressing her disapproval prior to the choice. I am a bard so I do lots of dialogue for the party, and I am often blindsided by approval/disapprovals because I miss out on these dialogues. I also can't talk to the characters when they are assigned to him via session manager. Any way to fix this?

Seems easy, give control of said character back to you.

For the biggest issue which is the dialogue limitation, I would need to constantly reassign the characters prior to triggering dialogue which you can't always predict. This particular example was in the middle of a very combat-heavy portion of the game too, there was no way to know Karlach had something to say.

friend sounds like a ♥♥♥♥ disapproving one action = insta reload wtf i'd find a better friend tbh you should be able to play as you wish.

the reload was unrelated to the choice lmao, just trying to make a clear and concise post that gets to the point. we still made the same choice that karlach disapproved of.

This is a major issue a lot of people are complaining about, that they took a party based game and removed all party mechanics for dialog. Its even worse in co-op with origin characters being locked out of dialogs if they are not chained to the speaker. My partner and I are playing with each of us controlling a companion, so lord only knows how many lines of theirs we will miss because the wrong one of us instigated the dialog (yet we will still be penalized with their disapproval, as you say). It's bizarre and disappointing and frustrating. Apparently people have been complaining about this all the years of early access and they didn't think it important enough to change. Its mind boggling.
