Nothing in ranger is actively bad. It's just that their best class features are easily obtained or exceeded elsewhere. A fighter with a bow is a better archer. And a druid is a better caster. They just don't really bring anything unique to the table and the opportunity loss cost against classes that do is rather high.
Damn, that sounds amazing, i was thinking about multiclassing my paladin with barbarian too.
" paladins have more sustained burst till they run out of smite's"
My guy you aint lying about that. The whole party getting a long rest if my paladin runs out of spell slots. Dont care if everyeone else slots are full, WE RESTIN!!
These smites are friggin ridiculous. Divine smite, even if I miss, it doesnt use a spell so i can just cast it again.
And i found out just how stupid the savage attack feat is with divine smite. It seems both the regular and divine dice rolls get advantage rolls so im seeing like a white 20 damage and a yellow 20 damage value popp out of enemies and the enemy just disintegrate immediately when they had a whole @SS bar of health.
Im like got, DAMN!
Sir Conan of Roidonia what is best in life?
To smite my enemy! See them driven before me! And hear the lamentation of the heretics! XD
Yeah, basically. The dnd inspired games generally have utility classes and fighting classes. Obviously you can do either with every class, but the extent varies wildly.
As you pointed out fighters excel at, well, fighting. It's literally in the name. Mages on the other hand excel at utility. Illusion spells, dialogues, and exploration. Given the chance they can ♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ up too, but are much more limited to short bursts of slaughter than fighters who are basically always good for a fight as long as their HP isn't 0.
Or Warlock 5 / sorc 5 / tempest cleric 2. Ditto extra attack and dual haste.
My character as a warlock, Astarion as an assassin, Lae'zel as a battle master, Karlach as a berserker.
Then I got access to Jaheira and Halsin became a active companion, so I'm rolling with 2 druids for now, druids are pretty damn strong in 5e huh
