A book suggesting you may need oil at some point for something
Ceremonial weapons and one already placed where it needs to be.
The quest has many parts but at least they are all in that area.
Being thorough is key but some things might be easy to miss. Some of the areas are somewhat hard to navigate as it is in ruins.
Here is how it went for me:
"Oh a glowing Longsword"
"Hey it stopped glowing when I picked it up"
"Oh it glows when you put it there"
"I Wonder what this window tells me"
Window: "These people were pretty important, and here is what items they wielded"
"Oh cool, let's find those"
"Oh hi Big Bird, this Bluejay said you stole it's nest"
*accidental murder of a big bird and slightly smaller big bird*
"Ohooo, Ceremonial Hammer"
"Oh a Gravestone"
Gravestone "Here lies one of the bros the window mentioned"
"Oh nice, gimme Mace"
*I put down the Mace and Hammer*
"This also seems to work with just normal weapons!"
*try any other weapon from my inventory, take like 10 damage or so from placing the wrong ones*
*finally works with axe*
"HOORAY"
*play the rest of the dungeon*
*find a section that says, that Lathander looked like 2 directions*
*realize you can turn the statues*
*Turn them until it tells me I was a good boy*
"Oh this thing with crystals is called "Power source""
*make it go boom*
*disarm some traps, find the other Power Sources*
*Legend of Zelde Item-Get sound*
Legendary Mace Acquired! Your cleric can now basically cast Lightnign Bolt!
I dopped the ceremonial hammer because i wanted to "move " it on the altar but i couldn't find it anywhere, it's like it vanished in a black hole.
EDIT: wait you can use regular weapons aswell? I'll try it if i go back to the mountain pass.
Well you're a complete liar because both statues don't turn. The statue that needs to face West, does not rotate. No matter what you do to it, you cannot get it to rotate west. It's broken.
He is not - it's exactly how this works.
Also, all it takes for the statues is a skill check - one for each of them, no grease needed. Karlach did it for me.
You have to pass an athletics check.
That athletics check is impossible to pass then, because I've reloaded nearly two dozen times and every single party member fails it every single time.
Also, who the ♥♥♥♥ thought it was a good idea to shelve entire major side quest behind a single ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ athletics dice roll? JEsus, that's terrible.
There are buffs to skill checks available in the game - use them. (e.g. cleric - Guidance cantrip, also available as item to grant it to any char)
This is an additional sidequest to get an additional item, nothing vital.
I stumbled onto it by accident, finding the reward FIRST before the actual stuff needed to do the quest the "morally good" way.
Edit: And due to the power of F5 (quicksave) and Strength potions, the statue wasn't an issue either.
Scroll of grease on the statue worked for me. Failed every single athletics check. I also did not put the weapons on the pedestal. I was missing one. Not too sure what that's supposed to do but I might reload...
