Quest : Suspicious Toy
Hello!

If any of you got there I'd like some hint on the quest suspicious toy. I am at this part of the quest where I should inspect the third floor of the firework shop, but I can't seem to have any way to get access ; there is no dialogue checks and there isn't any relevant items upstair that would make the quest progress.

Forcing the combat isn't an option either as I would be treated like a criminal as soon as I step outside.

Did anyone manage to complete it?

It sure feels bugged. You can get on the roof with jump spell and slip in from there.

Go behind the mansion there’s a refugee camp, hope that helps

I've spent way too many hours today trying to figure out a decent way. They talk about some pipes being rusted, and how that would slow them down/stop production, but I've been all the way around, up on, inside, outside the house and can't seem to target the pipes or do anything with them to halt their production.

Finally I gave up and found some datamining that suggests it should be possible, but I can't for the life of me figure it out.

Anyone have any luck?

I did that part already, the culprit has been apprehended and the explosive removed, the next part is in the lower city.

I finished my playthrough without completing that quest, but boy did I spent a long 2-3 hours trying to figure it out.

To anyone new, what has been attempted to far :

- Sneaking in while invisible. Triggers a fight.

- Sneaking in and read/steal any quest related paper that is upstair (including the guys pocket). No progress in the quest and triggers a fight.

- Trying to speak with any npc available in the building. No options to progress.

- Forcing a fight. You can complete the quest this way, but you would be treated like a criminal as soon as you step out and with the amount of "good citizens" murdered it's either straight to jail or to the death. Not advised.

- Went back to the apprehended criminal with the stolen quest items. No options to progress.

That quest left me on a loss.

I think it's just bugged at this point.
There must be a way with the pipes.
Or to attack them and not become a criminal.

I forced a fight and when the guards came to investigate after the fight was won I persuaded them that I had no involvement in this and they just told me to leave the crime site.
Managed to loot the 3rd floor before the guards came as well so I had time to progress the quest.

so I got no problem with the guards at all, they didnt even come look. I started the fight when i went with one invisible character to the 2nd floor (top floor) and did a sneak attack. the fight started with only the 2nd and 1ste floor ingaged but after I pushed some dude on the 1ste floor against the rails the ground floor guys (3) got involved aswell.

there is 3 things that happend that might have not made me a "criminal".
1: maybe it was just the spell i used, I made sure none of the AOE spells spilled to the outside of the building.
2: all kills happend behind the reenforced door from the ground floor to the 1ste floor.
3: do to the use of some darkness spell, the shopkeeper on the 1ste floor threw a grenade to the roof of the same floor, triggering a chain reaction on teh 2nd floor, she killed everybody in the first room of the 2nd floor.

maybe 1 of the guys in that room you are not allowed to kill? and therefor gets you arrested.

BUT: i gained nothing except xp for this quest there is no reward given by anyone so far so your not really missing out.

This one got me stumped to. I finally resolved it with blood and steel but I do think there should be another option here. It was a bit anticlimactic.

wildshape into cat, walk in take book; doesn't seem to progress the quest tho

You can sneak in without a problem with invis or wildshape, but there doesn't seem to be anything in there to progress the quest further in the journal. The books and notes do nothing when you either read or take them. I think the place is bugged.

As a side note, you can blast one of the barrels from a roof across the street to do some serious damage, won't kill everyone, but some nice exp. I used greater invis with another character casting fog cloud as soon as the invisible character casts their firebolt, blasted a bunch of guards and chemists without triggering combat. could walk right in soon after. Talking to the clerk at the second floor was fine, though talking to any guard at any floor results in combat, and trying to go to the top floor resulted in the normal restricted area dialogue. Real weird.

I've just managed it !
It requires two means of invisibility (two spells, potions...) on one character. The rest of the group must stay outside of the shop (so they don't trigger combat). The thief must be invisible *and* sneak upstairs, pickpocket the item on the white drow in less than 10 turns (60 seconds, highly doable) and then recast (drink potion) of invisibility immediately, to sneak out afterwards.
No massive explosion with innocents killed in my playthrough !
Getting back in the shop would make them fight you even before you reach the door so beware to keep your distance. That fact makes me think that blowing up the place is the only option.

Have you tried throwing a fireball up the stairs and turning everything up there into chunky salsa???

I did this too - fairly simple to pickpocket the orange note (which made me think was a quest item like all the other orange ones), but did your quest progress in any way? I read the note, swapped it from one character to another to check if it would trigger something but nothing. Would love to know if it worked for you!

I'm a bit sad because I was very invested in this questline considering what they were doing to the refugees :(

Are you talking about the one at Baldur's gate (map)?

We first spawn near a mansion owner with caravan guards telling the refugee to gtfo his house. Do that first. Go to the basement. Loot+read the blackmail letter.

Go to the aforementioned warehouse. Talk to the captain guy and tell him about the contraband. He will order his men to look for it and you can help. Then loot the weird toys. Talk to the captain guy. Quest complete (?) I only did this much I'm not sure if there is a continuation.

There's supposed to be more. (Check your quest log). When you talk to the mansion owner (Arfur) again, if you intimidate him he'll direct you towards the fireworks shop. But people are finding that even if you go to the top floor and pick up everything, there's nothing that triggers the next step. So it appears the quest is bugged or unfinished.
