verry frustrating
The UD Eleator with the Storage leads to a Zhentarim Hideout. However, you have to go to said Hideout through the ruined Village and have to unlock the Elevator on this side. It basically acts as alternative way into the Underdark if you didnt find or solve the Puzzle in the Goblin Camp. I think Auntie Ethels Tea House has another Entrance to the Underdark aswell.
The exact location is X 598 Y 382
There's no waypoint on the map until you actually open the gate in front of the elevator... Confusing!
The UD elevator is marked as 'Find the Creche', so, naturally, I assume it's the same type of thing that the Mountain Pass is (which is also marked with that same quest and is clearly going to lead into the next phase of the game). But no, it's apparently just another path into the UD. Which is not at all clear because it's marked the same as the Mountain Pass, and the game literally says in the Journal to go through the UD as the other option... not go through the Grymforge or anything else.
TL;DR - The map UI needs cleaning up. If the UD elevator is just another way in, it shouldn't have anything on the little marker for those quests that require entering the next phase of the game.
While I enjoy the game a lot, it could stand a lot of cleaning up with the maps and more clearly indicating major waypoints. The map feels clumsily implemented IMO.
EDIT: And to be clear, I, too, thought it might have been bugged. I have had a few significant bugs in the first 20 hours, though no hard locks, and thought this might have been a bug!
The one in UD just goes to the UD from the hideout.
Right... that's the problem. Grymforge does take you there, but the first time through, the game says you have to go through the UD. It doesn't say you have to go to Grymforge, which I felt was an optional side-location to help the one character with her quest in the mushroom village.
The confusion for me is that the game should just make things a bit more clear. I don't want hand-holding or spoilers from the map... but the map actively confuses me when lo and behold, there's an elevator in the UD that I stumble across and it just goes to an alternate place I may or may not have seen on the surface of the existing area. I thought it was bugged until checking and finding this thread.
While Skyrim was sometimes too straight forward with dropping a waypoint into the fog of exploration and marking things out, this goes a bit the other way where I honestly went through the entire UD to a spot that I assumed was the elevator, all because a map marker on that spot said more or less the same stuff as the Mountain Pass spot. Both say you can get to the Creche from those spots... so, the UD elevator I assumed was the way up.
In short, just a bit cleaner implementation of the map would help a ton.
I encountered this exact same issue for the exact same reason. The map UI is infuriating, there's no reason for a location quest marker to exist if the destination is invalid.
