Use water! I found out by accident casting a water spell. Or you can just use a bottle of water.

Create water spell, throw a water bottle onto yourself are the two easiest options (other than resting). There is also a somewhat obscure equipment piece later in the game that applies the wet status to you and thus also cleans off any dirt and blood.

My character has jet black hair. It always turns 'burgundy' when she's covered with blood. LOL. I guess they couldn't adequately do blood splatters on the hair. I need to remember to create water more often because it bugs me (the blood all over her face doesn't, ha ha).
