Yes the obvious way didn't provide what I wanted, so maybe there is another way...
Hmmm yeah you can also hold the mouse close to your feet, making your character walk, but it's a hassle...
Except it did. There is an option to sheath your weapon. And no option for walk. So since that button doesnt exist that tells you that you cant do that.
If there isn't a button it doesn't mean you can't do it. There is mods, you can edit files, console commands, etc. etc. Where is your imagination?
And I didn't ask if it was possible to sheath your weapon, but rather carry it on your hip instead of your back.

Not perfect, but okay-ish, as you can't assign toggle button to a key.
Why this isn't an option offered by default by the developers... is... eh, disappointing.

Seems I can't get the sword on hip to work... Modding is hard in this game
