proficiencies?
I have no Idea what I'm doing. I don't know the DnD rules and the game does not actualy make a good job in explaining stuff. So maybe you can help

If my Character has a proficiency in lets say Deception from its background or profession
and I choose the warlock level 2 Feature "beguiling influence" which will grant proficiency in deception and persuation, does this make my proficiency somehow better? Do they stack? Or is choosing that a waste?

Yes, it makes your Proficiency in deception and persuasion better. And yes, they do stack with other bonuses you may already have for deception and persuasion.

You say you have deception from your background so thats +1 deception, and then another granted proficiency in deception will make your deception +2.

What that +2 means is, when you get into a situation where you have to roll a dice for deception, for example, in a dialog option, you have the option to lie to the individual using your deception skill.

You roll a 20 sided dice. if the dice is equal or higher than the success number, you successfully lie to the individual, if its below, you fail and now suffer the consequences.

the +2 will add 2 numbers to what ever the die roll is. Say you need to roll a 10 or higher on the dice to succeed, but you rolled an 8, so that means you would have failed this, but your +2 in deception is added to that 8, so now its a 10, so you now successfully lied to the individual.

You want your proficiency in skills to be as high as possible so those added numbers boost your dice rolls.

My rogue is so good at sleight of the hand, that when she does those, she gets +11, so even if a Rolled a 2, when i need to roll a ten or higher, I will still succeed because 11 would be added to the 2, making it 13, which is higher than 10. Meaning, I will get a guaranteed win unless I roll a 1 on the dice.

Rolling 1 is a critical fail, and it will automatically fail without adding any bonuses regardless of how many you have.

So in other words, proficiency are added bonuses to your dice rolls. Higher proficiency means higher chance of successful dice rolls

For this reason, its best to NOT have jack of all trade characters and have each person in your party be really, really good at 1-3 different skills in proficiency each.

So you got specialist whos really good at certain things, like a guy whos really good at perception so you have him lead the group in dungeons so when he comes across perception rolls to detect traps, you can see them, and then, have who, ever is the best at sleight at hands disarm them so your entire party doesnt get wiped from a single missed trap.

With Charisma 16 I get a bonus on Charisma rolls of 3 as it looks like

Next to Convince and Deceive I have a small dice icon in the character screen. and the values are at +5
The icon probably means that I am skilled at it.

if I now take beguiling influence, at character level up, what exactly happens?
the values don't change. and there are no other bonuses visible when i try to deceive an npc.
I have no idea what this passive skill does now and where I can see what it does.

Hm... try this?

Ignore the other poster, it's bad information.
Proficiency is based on level and doesn't stack.
You can't get proficiency more than once.
The 'exception' is Rogues and Bards get Expertise, which is a 2x bonus.
If you get the same proficiency multiple times, you're supposed to be able to pick an alternative for free.
If any of this is incorrect, it's Larian's fault for bad implementation in either not letting you pick a new proficiency so you're gimped, or they're giving out +1 bonuses they shouldn't be (VERY bad design in bounded accuracy system).

No proficiencies do not stack in this game.
